Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Ahh ok, thanks for the clarification. I saw it be mentioned, but did not understand what that meant. I'm guessing there's no way to know if a specific location has WARP unless you go there. I've just tried calling several locations and not one person picked up the line.

If a regular Walmart employee rings you up, it's not going to work. The Walmart needs to have a Walmart Mobile kiosk located in electronics with (typically) a contrator who does activations. You don't need the card for the service, you just walk to them and talk directly to that person.

My phone is not associated with my account. Do I need to do this so as to check my phone is not on autopay for next month? If so, should I call Straight Talk customer service to help me with associating the phone line with my account?

Where is doing the best trade in values for these? I think T-Mobile but I have an 8+ person Simple Choice plan that is SUPER hard to give up (which is a requirement for the Tmo deal)
How much trade in value at tmobile. Last I checked directly from Apple it's $160. Id rather just keep the phone, it's a solid basic, budget level iphone. Don't think I'll see this price level again unless I buy preowned or an older model

doesn't matter if its sim locked when trade in phones they only require the phone password unlocked.

You can trade 5 per day per person at apple physical store or unlimited online which you have to ship them.

I'm planning on doing this too with the 4 SEs I got and and extra 200 for a good condition but low battery capacity 11, was concerned about number of trade ins they'll take in one purchase. No one at Apple has a clear answer, so I'll just go tomorrow and give it a shot. Glad to see it worked for you.

Yeah unfortunately I waited too long to open the phones and now the wireless person is already gone for the day. I'll have to wait until next week before I can go back in person, but I'll see if I can call at lunch tomorrow to get the plan PIN.
try 1004 or 1005 for the PIN. ST rep told me they're the same for a period, then switches.

I would do this if the 15 ProMax has a physical sim tray. Apple killed this for many people looking to upgrade. I'll stick to the 13 ProMax until I can get one overseas.

Doesn't seem right. The plan PIN is 15 digits, similar to what would be on the back of a physical plan card.

Guys, what's the best ST phone number to call for a refund? I read a post awhile back that some of you were able to speak to a more knowledgably csr via a different phone number or department, but I can't seem to find that post now, TIA.
