Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

My ST order is pending remote fulfillment and my CC transactions show they refunded. I'll have to try a Walmart or move on for Christmas.

i just got 2 phones off walmart. once I activate the 2 phones can i immediately trade into T-mobile for trade in value or do I have to wait till it's unlocked?

Thanks for the help!
That seems to be the question. This seems to make it seem like you don't https://www.t-mobile.com/switch/p...phone%20in. I'm probably going to go forward with it but turn it in at the store to make sure there aren't any issues with it and I'll still be within the 14 day return window so I can return the devices I just bought.

Purchased one from Walmart this afternoon with $35 plan. But when I try to activate it at home, it struck in sos only. Tried chatting, calling ST. No use.
They told me to go to Walmart to fix it? Anyone who bought today is activated properly?

First step if your phone doesn't work with the SIM inserted … log into the ST website using the email you gave them and "forgot password". See if your line shows a plan or phone number associated with it under "manage lines". Also a few other suggestions mentioned on the last page or two if you can't get logged in.

Tried to login. I am able to login but I don't see phone or plan details. It's a blank account. I spoke to straight talk and chat with them, not much help. Then I went to a walmart store which is different than where I bought, that guy is saying you have to go to same store where I bought.WTF.

If you have the WARP order number they should be able to look it up and provide it. On the page printout it is the last 15 digits (out of 25 total).
When you said they , did you mean Walmart Osl rep or straight talk customer service ?

Ugh, that sucks. Yeah, it sounds like the plan wasn't activated right. Try giving the Walmart you bought it from a call and ask to talk to the phone activations guy (someone who can access the WARP system). Find a way to contact him if he's not there at the moment. He should be able to either take care of the issue or give you your 15 digit "plan activation PIN". If you get the runaround, call that store and ask for the CSM. Explain that you bought the plan and just want them to get it working right. Hav your receipt and IMEI # handy in case they ask for it.

I am so tired today. I am planning to go to that store tomorrow, if it doesn't work I will give up. I am anyway planning to trade in for $160 Apple GC, but little scared: can I trade in a device which was never activated on service.i hope it shouldn't be an issue.

Straight Talk is such garbage. Will only "activate" phones through OSL reps. Buy through OSL rep, they don't activate it, ST wants a plan pin which isn't anywhere to be found on the receipt. Call them and ask about it, have to drive a hour there so they can figure it out, can't come today though because it's Black Friday. What a horribly run company.

If at the store and they can't help, then have them refund the $35 from your receipt. If you still want to activate, take the phone home and log in to tracfone and activate as if it was a new phone. Chose the $15 or $10 30 day plan. The same sim WILL work with tracfone

Like above just have them refund the $35. The phone does not have to be activated to trade in AFAIK

If problem arises always ask to speak with store manager. You have been inconvenienced enough and you just want that charge refunded. It is not acceptable if the manager cannot offer a reasonable solution. $35 store credit maybe? Ask for it if you have to.

But i would like to think that the store manager would have access to the WARP terminal and can retrieve that pin.

They claim a refund cannot be given at the customer service desk . Is that nonsense ?

Speak to the store manager and explain the situation. This is a major inconvenience. Only he can help make it right.
