Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

I went to the local Walmart tonight ~7:15pm. They had the phones in stock, but no "phone specialist" employees who could activate the phone per the deal in-store. Pretty lousy.
You have to go early like in the afternoon around 5pm.

I went today and was able to get this deal at my local Walmart - OSL guy was there and I had no issues. My payment was 49.99 + 35 for the plan plus tax.

Question - It was not activated at the store - he just told me how to activate it and the phone has the "activation pouch" on it that has instructions. Does that matter? I did pay $35 though, so do I still have to cancel the plan?
At this time, I plan to just give the phone to my young daughter who will only be using the phone on wireless - she does not need any data plan. Would I still need to activate it or do anything else?
They gave me instructions how to activate the phone. One of those are airtime pin. Did you get that?

If at the store and they can't help, then have them refund the $35 from your receipt. If you still want to activate, take the phone home and log in to tracfone and activate as if it was a new phone. Chose the $15 or $10 30 day plan. The same sim WILL work with tracfone
Like above just have them refund the $35. The phone does not have to be activated to trade in AFAIK

If problem arises always ask to speak with store manager. You have been inconvenienced enough and you just want that charge refunded. It is not acceptable if the manager cannot offer a reasonable solution. $35 store credit maybe? Ask for it if you have to.

But i would like to think that the store manager would have access to the WARP terminal and can retrieve that pin.
She took my phone to take pictures of her screen because the store printer wasn't working. One of the screen was airtimes pin..

This might be very YMMV but maybe the store you went to has the WARP system. Many (or most) stores that have the WARP system has dedicated cell phone reps. Usually, no cell phone rep = no WARP = no activation = no deal.
The one I went that terminal can activate AT&T, tracfone and other pre-paid. There wasn't any ST rep. She worked for Walmart. She wear black shirts. She told me she did a couple of them before me. I wasn't the first one.

No, you don't. You have to go to bigger Walmart Supercenter to try it. You know they have it when you see the terminal on the table.
Not every super center has WARP either.

That's why you don't have to go into everyone of them to find out.

Ordered when this started and never got my phones. Plus they've never refunded me either and when you call they won't refund you. Says do a charge back then they hang up on you. Anyone got a refund without doing a charge back?

Wow. That's ridiculous. My one and only order from 11/6 is still stuck in pending remote fulfillment also. I read others saying their orders got refunded without taking any actions though.

FYI. I got mine from Walmart at Vancouver, WA (mill plain, next to 205). The one on 4th plain supposedly can do it as well, but the guy wasn't in that day. Yes, you need 2 things: the WARP thing and someone who can operate it (good chance you will find one this weekend).

I called the # others said but they refused to put a ticket in. Called the normal support they said the same thing do a charge back. There was one I saw that said they got a ticket and a refund but so far I'm coming up dry.

Honestly I was hoping someone who hasn't said they got a refund but did and did some other way would chime in cause Ive done most of what people said in the thread. I had kept up with this will about page 210 but honestly couldn't keep checking everyday. Was hoping the other # the one person provided would work but they took 25 minutes to tell me they can't refund me then hung up.

Waste of time trying to deal with ST. Refunds to the CC have already been processed for most people with having no contact with ST. You can wait til next week to see if your CC gets a refund or contact them today to do a chargeback. If you used paypal then you can request a refund through them.

That is what I figured I was going to have to do but I guess was trying to do it the normal route first. Given everyones poor experiences though I guess the normal route doesn't work most of the time sadly.
