Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Yes, Verizon and other major carriers do show up on the T-Mobile trade-in site. I was just figuring that if Simple Talk does not, it should not matter and just select Apple-Generic perhaps.
Hopefully you meant Straight talk not simple talk. lol

Are new accounts automatically on auto-renew or do we have to manually turn that feature off on our ST account?

My first use with ST, but I do not see the auto-renew enabled on either of my phones. I don't have a credit card tied to anything (just the overall phone+1-mo bronze purchase up front). I'm guessing if I don't add a card or select auto-renew, it just stops the service at the end of this first month?

Yes… do I select Verizon or Apple-Generic. My concern is T-Mobile might reject it on a "technicality". Had sooo many issues with my last trade in with Verizon that If it does not show tracfone and I select something else, I suspect they will refuse it.

Can you select Apple-Generic on the T-Mobile trade-in site? Would that then be the correct selection to use?
Generic is the correct one. Not sure how much it matters. The T-Mobile rep did generic for mine. Waiting for the iPhone 15 to come, and I'll either ship mine or drop it off at the store

the limit is 2 phones per person but depends on the store. You should use different emails for each so that you can make an account online with ST but it's not a necessity IF they activate the phone properly. Be sure to get the activation pin printout from the warp terminal. Be sure they are activated by calling the activation phone number and entering the IMEI before you leave the parking lot.
When I got one phone at Walmart, the rep did the activation and I checked everything like making a phone call etc and it worked. But she never gave me the activation pin printout.
I did text unlock and got the right date. After 61 days when it unlocks, do I just remove the sim card and put in my sim from a previous phone? I am assuming the current number and my ST account will automatically go away.

For an iPhone, do you need to even have the StraightTalk SIM card in the actual phone at that point for the device unlock to go through?

You can go back to page 284 to look at slysol and my comments. It seems that yes it will still unlock and can be verified at sickw.com

Straight Talk is such garbage. Will only "activate" phones through OSL reps. Buy through OSL rep, they don't activate it, ST wants a plan pin which isn't anywhere to be found on the receipt. Call them and ask about it, have to drive a hour there so they can figure it out, can't come today though because it's Black Friday. What a horribly run company.
Finally got this fixed after a hour at the store. Rep called up some ST/Walmart service line. Guy puts me on the phone with them while he's constantly trying to call some friend hasn't heard from for a few days. Takes off for 20 minutes while I'm dealing with ST myself, guy from ST finally wants us to look up order number in Warp but the OSL rep is still gone. Finally he comes back, still making multiple calls to try and get ahold of his friend while finishing up adding my minutes/ST card to my account so I can actually activate the phone. OSL is the most unprofessional cell communications company I've ever experienced and I had Sprint for 7 years.

This is the first I've had 2 active phone numbers at the same time. Not sure what to do lol. I'm just waiting out the 60 days so I can use my T-Mobile sim. Still haven't found a good Apple Watch deal to use with this which is my sole purpose of getting an iPhone. Hopefully on cyber Monday. Do like the size of the SE as a Roku tv and fire tv remote which I've been using it for mostly thus far

Bought from Straight Talk website for $99 + $45 plan. All the Walmarts near me were sold out. Hope the phone gets delivered.
