Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Folks today is the last day for this deal, it is still alive. I just want to share my personal experience on it, as I went all the way to Long Island NY for this.

Credit to user zdes on this post for letting me know that the Commack NY store have the WARP system. #post166993927

I used Brickseek to find available stock for SKU 616074177. Enter your zip code. Brickseek make you sign in before you can use them now.

For the NY NJ area it showed that the Westbury and Valley Stream NY store still have them. For NJ the North Bergen and Secaucus NJ store, but no confirmed WARP system in NJ. When I went to the store both of them said that they do not activate the phones in store as they have no machine. I assume it's the WARP they are talking about. It doesn't matter as at this stage likely the only Walmart stores that still have the ST Iphone SE stock are the ones that can not activate phones. The Walmart.com status for available for same day pick up is not accurate.

Go when there is low traffic and just ask to buy an iPhone SE Straight Talk. They might give you hassle but try to find a Walmart employee that is free to open up the cage and search for the phone only. With the normal iPhone SE box, on the bottom it will have a paper pouch 2x sticker-ed to it, that says Verizon on top left and Straight Talk on top right. Ask to just buy it. You will be charged $149. Make sure you keep the receipt. Be respectful and go to another associate if one does not want to help you. Just have them physically check.

Now take the phone and go to a known Walmart with WARP system. You will need to rely on this thread for confirmed locations, Just search the comments with the keyword being your area. The WARP system is a machine in the electronic check out section that looks different than other Walmart registers. It has a different keyboard. The folks that can activate the phone are from a company named OSL and wear shirts with OSL logo see here https://oslmobile.app.appery.io/app/Splash.html. In addition to the Commack store, the Farmingdale NY location also have the OSL and WARP. For both stores, they are there from 11AM - 7PM every day. At least that is what I was told.

Take your ST Iphone SE to them, calmly and respectfully explain that you bought the phone from a store that does not activate phones, and you would like to activate the phone here. Show them the receipt and the offer. You will be told you will need to purchase the phone and a plan on the spot in order to do take advantage of the offer, and they currently have no stock. Suggest if can you just return the one you bought in with the receipt and re-buy it. You will be told that you will need to deal with customer service. Ok, you established all this so far.

Go to customer service. Again very respectfully explain to the associate that the phone folks told you that you need to re-purchase the item and plan in that store in order to take advantage of a published offer. Show them the offer on your own phone. Ask them is it possible that you can return this and have an associate walk the now returned iPhone back to the OSL folks so that you may re-purchase it.

At this point two things might happen if you are respectful enough. Either the associate will just price match the phone, or have someone walk the device back to OSL. You also might be told that no one is available right now. Tell them thank you and you understand, and you are willing to wait. Stand on the side. Ask them again if anyone is available in 15 minutes if still not serviced.

When you have a free associate to walk the iPhone back to OSL, walk with them. Some associates have a short attention span and might get distracted by other customer's inquires. Be polite and let them work but stay on them so they do not misplace the iphone.

Now with an available device and you are right there in front of OSL you should be able to receive the offer as it is valid until the 26th. The Bronze plan should be enough for the offer.

I think the key here is be respectful. For most people you will get respect back. You are not doing anything wrong here. You are moving Walmart's inventory at your time and cost so that an published offer can be completed and Walmart can make commission on it.

The Westbury and Valley Stream stores in NY do not do phone activations so the $49 deal is not available there. Also, an OSL "manager" told me that all of their employees don't work on Sundays (at least in the tri-state area) so the deal is probably dead if you are in NY/NJ.

Wow, this would be more ammunition if OSL is not there. The advertised price is good today. A store manager (if being a reasonable person) should be able to ring up the phone and a $35 airtime card and adjust off the $100. But a huge YMMV

I think you mis-read my post. Please refer to the paragraph 6 that starts with "Now take the phone and go to a known Walmart with WARP system. "

As for the hours, it is suppose to be 7 days a week. Why would a customer facing company have their employees off on a day where most people do the shopping? Call the Walmart store and the Electronic department is usually option 5, and ask if the OSL or phone activation folks are there or not.

And if I purchase from straight talk website. How can I activate the phone, do I need a service pin to activate if purchased directly from straight talk website?

Bought 2 today at 50 each at denver superstore - 1pm local. Phone staff don't work for Walmart and were late. He didn't know pricing until he went through the process. Took ages but no hiccups.

If he bought them from Walmart, they might be already active. If so and WM activated them properly, there's no need for a PIN. If he's selling them sealed, it might be hit or miss in that regard and he might not even know. If WM didn't activate the plan when he bought them, then you could probably just activate it as a new phone on Tracfone with their $10 / $15 plan. It could possibly get complicated if they show as already activated on the network, but not showing service, as you'd need to deal with trying to re-link them to an account that you can access (or just hope / wait and see if they unlock after 60 days)

Thanks for the reply! Very helpful! It is way too complicated and I'd better pass it. Do you have any idea for the straight talk website purchase? Can I just activate it by myself easily? What steps would be in that situation.

In general, their activations are pretty straightforward and you just go to the website and enter the IMEI at the activation tab once you get the phone. Those guys can also be unpredictable at times though, so it could require a call if someone messes up and doesn't attach the plan you purchased to the phone. You'll see some posts mention that issue sometimes and I had it happen with one phone that I bought (out of a dozen or so in the past). Had to call in and they looked up the order to get it going that time.

I see it in stock on brickseek and Walmart also shows that I can order online and pickup at the store for $150.
When I went there last week (on the first day of this deal) WM just brushed me off saying they didn't have it in stock without even checking. Typical Jersey WM, probably wanted to keep it for themselves or other employees.

I just pickup up one phone from my Walmart for $98.xx. I didn't receive any email from Straight Talk, the guy @Walmart didn't let me choose a phone number if it has been activated? Should I follow the steps to "activate" the phone, or has it been already activated like people said in the thread? Thanks!
