Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.

So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.

Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

I see it in stock on brickseek and Walmart also shows that I can order online and pickup at the store for $150.
When I went there last week (on the first day of this deal) WM just brushed me off saying they didn't have it in stock without even checking. Typical Jersey WM, probably wanted to keep it for themselves or other employees.
You can order online for $149 but that's nothing special since it's been that price at WM for the last 5 months (got one in late June). Must buy in store & activate at purchase to get the deal.
(BTW Brickseek isn't reliable, hasn't been for a while).

Trying to understand.. so for$150 I get an iphone SE with a mandatory expensive ST plan for a few months?

Why not but the half off iphone 12 for example? Or something else? Trying to understand why this is such a great deal.

Was the phone already activated, or did you have to activate it after opening?

For those getting the deal, it's $49 for the phone when you buy a single month of the $35 plan, so under $100 out the door and it unlocks after 60 days. No need to buy anything else and the plan is prepaid, so it just cancels automatically when used up. Some people like the really small form factor of these phones and they have 5G and A15 chip, so should perform well. I almost always have an iPad or laptop at hand so I dislike bigger phones, as I rarely use it for more than calls and texts. Others want them for trade-in value which can be good, depending on the deal. Hard to go too far wrong for the low price, as it's hard to find even good used iPhones for that.

I agree, that is why in my original comment I suggested go there during low traffic hours and you have to find an associate that is willing to open up and check. Yes, North Bergen store is full of people who think they know better than you. Secacus is sometimes better but not a whole lot.

If I have nothing better to do and not worrying about gas money, and must roll the dice, I would try maybe the Saddle Brook / Rockaway NJ store. It is showing up as in stock for Brickseek. Some folks are saying it is inaccurate. But it worked for me.

Bought 2 today at 50 each at denver superstore - 1pm local. Phone staff don't work for Walmart and were late. He didn't know pricing until he went through the process. Took ages but no hiccups.
Just an update:

I did get 2 phones today (Sunday) for $50 each plus 1 month plan.

Activation at home didn't work so I had to go back to store which took another couple of hours. The original salesperson didn't give me the 15 digit pin to activate over the phone. Salesperson at store printed it out and gave it to me when I returned.

Both denver and aurora stores still have stock as of this evening. The staff at aurora are more experienced if you have a choice. None of these staff work for Walmart.

Get that 15 digit code before you leave. SAVE YOURSELF HOURS.

Even better - activate at store and not at home.

It was not activated.

I tried to activate it online but the site kept giving me errors. I ended up doing it over the phone.

The Westbury and Valley Stream stores in NY do not do phone activations so the $49 deal is not available there. Also, an OSL "manager" told me that all of their employees don't work on Sundays (at least in the tri-state area) so the deal is probably dead if you are in NY/NJ.
Same in multiple stores in FL. No "activation specialists" work on Sunday soooo…

Mine was fully activated. I didn't need to do anything. Just put the sim into the phone and it just works.

I just pickup up one phone from my Walmart for $98.xx. I didn't receive any email from Straight Talk, the guy @Walmart didn't let me choose a phone number if it has been activated? Should I follow the steps to "activate" the phone, or has it been already activated like people said in the thread? Thanks!
You will get a new number when you activate the phone.
