On August 31, 2017, the Lexar brand and trademark rights were acquired by Longsys, a flash memory company based in Shenzhen, China. The Lexar SSD is no different from other OEM SSDs on Temu or SHEIN. Kodak also licensed the brand name to Chinese OEMs. They are cheap but their warranty does not exist.

SSDs are cheap now. Buy reputable brands with good reviews to save yourself the trouble.

Good enough for external drive for files?
Yes it's good enough for that. Personally I would wait and spring for a TLC drive, because they aren't always that much more and it's more durable. The Samsung 870 2TB hit 85 dollars iirc. I decided to wait, and we'll see if it hits that again or goes lower during BF.

Again, its TLC.

Samsung has taken a hit on reliability, and only the 870 evo has tlc, and qlc is unimpressive

Anyways interesting to see prices go back up, I got a set of these for $58 not that long ago.

They all still work fine.

I think it is only a nand manufacturer's day dream, I have never seen any sillicon product price go up in the long run. small and short bounce at most.
Ram prices say no.

During Haswell era hot deals were making 32GB DDR3 the norm in systems, then things went backwards for almost a decade.

Nevermind then, someone posted that this was qlc early in the thread and it had a decent amount of likes. Combined with the low price I assumed that post was correct.

had a 500gb start to just randomly freeze for minutes after a few months of use. never had this happen before. I wanted to try the brand out bc I always saw deals on it. I used it as my os drive + an mx500 game drive. never again. stay away. I've been warned. ps the same mx500 game drive is working fine rn with a wd drive currently as the os drive.

Oh wait, all made in China. Guess he needs to toss those in the trash too.
That post is gone. Did it drift over from a knife deal thread?

Considering the expected and already price increases, is this holiday season basically the only time to buy for a while? Would there be exceptions say smaller capacity even if it's not as economical $/gb?
