It's a bummer that this -- like seemingly most protein shakes and powder -- is sweetened with Ace-K and sucralose... two sweeteners that are generally regarded as potentially problematic :-(. I guess it's because the healthier alternatives -- monk fruit, xylitol, and stevia -- are more expensive ingredients :-(.

Note that there's not scientific certainty that these sweeteners are harmful in any amount, the research is ongoing [openai.com].

I found these to be more watery and artificially sweet tasting when compared to most other protein shakes.

Query your Large Language Model about carrageenan. I'm curious what it outputs.

Sure, just updated the GPT convo to include that topic [updated link [openai.com]]

Summary statement in that entry:
Quote :
When considering the inclusion of carrageenan in your diet, it's important to look at your individual tolerance, overall dietary patterns, and health objectives. For most people, the amounts of carrageenan found in food are not a cause for concern. However, if you have a sensitive digestive system or autoimmune issues, you may want to observe how your body reacts to products containing carrageenan and consult with a healthcare professional if you have specific concerns or conditions that might be affected by its intake.

Good deal. Just purchased but removed the referral link so SD doesn't get any money. Despite being told numerous times how annoying their pop ups are they continue to add more and more.

Yeah, my note there was phrased poorly. My point was that it's not scientifically certain whether there's damage at the [relatively small] levels one gets in a typical protein shake. If you feed enough of almost anything to rats, for instance, they're gonna have a bad time.

I don't like carrageenan either, but it's in almost all chocolate milk and some ice cream.

If it actually burns your stomach, that's cause for concern!

Yes, must avoid known carcinogenic chemicals like Ace-K aka acesulfame potassium and sucralose. Some of the wording used to defend these harmful toxins reminds me of what used to be said about cigarette smoking. For all we know, they're just as harmful.

Your note was phrased just fine. Don't be concerned with wording. In fact, better to use the strongest possible terms to help protect fellow slickdealers by discouraging them from ingesting poison. You may have already saved someone's life.

Repped! nod
