these things are good, but god damn 750 calories per piece is pretty insane. It's 30% more than a big mac lol

I don't know if the deal is slick, but we traditionally eat moon cakes from mid-September to early October during the Mid-Autumn Festival. I wonder, are these leftover inventory?

That said, I would eat tasty moon cakes year-round if they were fresh.

I believe 750 is for a quarter of a moon cake. This thing packs with sugar and oil.
It's 750/cake...

Do you eat a whole one in a sitting? That's what I'd be more surprised about.
You can taste the diabetes every bite.

I get moon cake each year but I can only eat so much. These are large like the others and I have to cut them up.

The "pure Lotus seed paste" is notable. Most moon cakes cut the Lotus seed filling with white bean paste. Thx OP.

1. mooncake season ended early october
2. $5 per mooncake is crazy expensive to eat,
unless you need the box to present it as a gift.
3. costco mistakes anything asian as "gourmet"
so pretty much every asian product is overpriced.

Agreed. However, Costco killed local Asian grocers' sales during the Moon Festival in my areas because prices were much lower for the past 4-5 years now. The Asian store prices got ridiculously high that I don't see how people could afford them. And orders from individual homemade ones weren't selling either since they were $10+ each, making a 4ct gift box around $40 that is way too expensive.

Wondering if you saw this is a price for two packs, 8 moon cakes in total. Just in case.

i guess it's an area thing where regional managers pay attention to area markets better. my costco is near elmhurst and flushing ny, where there are major asian market every 10 blocks, and costco prices here are insulting particularly when nearly half it's costco patrons are pakistan indian or SE asian. unless mooncakes were in ridiculously fancy gift boxes or vegan or sugar free, they were all dirt cheap here sept-oct some as low as $1.5 each with even fancy boxed ones around $3 each. local asian bakeries were even selling their own house made mooncakes for a few bucks each, and would happily fancy box it for you.
