people laugh on why i keep buying dvd's and bluray but truth is you should never solely rely on streaming!
same reason you should have at least 2 tv antennas around the house! if your internet is down for a week you need to learn how to survive and not turn into a southpark episode searching for "internets".

Just a heads up "The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company's plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source."

Here is hoping they have major discounts on everything (particularly Steelbooks) whenever that happens.

Ub820s have dolby vision... the Sony's supposedly have freezing issues. When asked sony or ub820on reddit, one user said that you can buy the ub820 now or upgrade after the sony frustrates you
I bought the Sony UBP-X700/M on clearance at Target for $78 back in September and saw all the complaints about the skipping. I did a search on possible fixes for the issue and ran across this video on YouTube telling what could be done to address the issue. People in the comments were thanking him for the advice and saying that it had resolved their issues. I set mine up with these settings and have had no issues so far (knock on wood) and I've played a good 25 or so 4k blu rays so far.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sym8ayOpL-4

To sum it up, this is the info shared in the video:
Within the Screen Settings menu:
1- Turn the 4k upscaling off. Let your tv do the upscaling. (ok with me as my LG C1 does fine)
2- Cinema conversion mode should be set to Video.

If you have 1 of these Sonys and have issues with skipping I highly suggest trying these 2 settings tweaks before giving up and buying a new player.

As mentioned before the Dolby Vision setting needs to be changed manually but those extra 10 seconds don't bother me at all.

I'll always take media due to the fact of the amount of data (4k UHD/Atmos) and any streaming service is going to compress. Not to mention this started with Music and I've already had Walmart and Microsoft discontinue their streaming services leaving me to do "something" with my purchases.

Yeah I'm old, but I know that disk will play. Rather not depend on my ISP, the cloud, and some streaming service to work.

Reminds me of a lifetime guarantee, when the company closes 3 years later.

Thanks OP, in for both Top Gun films!

AFAIK the max total bitrate of a 4K Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos is about 130 Mb/s. Streaming bitrates are lower. Gigabit isn't nearly as necessary as you might think.
Ok, then why can't streaming come close to physical media in terms of image quality?

Streaming providers use lossy compression to save bandwidth.

I added the movies I wanted to my cart so I can be ready. Do you think the prices will automatically update in the cart so I can just check out. Already missed out on Pulp Fiction. : (

I added mine to my Saved Items, as I was wondering the same thing. Last year I tried to be slick on the Amazon Fire TV deal and added it to my cart thinking it would show the sale price when the deal went live. I was wrong... and I missed out. I don't know how Best Buy does their cart when deals go live but it would be nice to know if it will show the lower price when the sale starts. I have 23 of these saved and doubt I'll get them all once I see the prices.

According to their website the current 3 day sale ends at 11:59PM CT. That follows suit with their Deal Of The Day sales, which always end at 11:59PM CT. I'm planning to check at 12 ET regardless, but imagine if it does start at 12 it will likely be CT (1ET).
