people laugh on why i keep buying dvd's and bluray but truth is you should never solely rely on streaming!
same reason you should have at least 2 tv antennas around the house! if your internet is down for a week you need to learn how to survive and not turn into a southpark episode searching for "internets".
Just a heads up "The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company's plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source."

Here is hoping they have major discounts on everything (particularly Steelbooks) whenever that happens.

You could buy the discs and rip them to a HTPC (lossless content). Therefore, you have your own media center and no more discs to worry about. Granted, you can steal still (torrents + VPN), but some of us prefer to be honest (most of the time).
I guess there is certain degree of honesty since it is actually a crime to circumvent Blu-ray disck DRM (Digital Rights Management). If you google about it, you will find tons of information. So are you willing to break the law one way but not the other ..... May be it is like driving over the speed limit by 5-10 miles. Probably won't get caught so may be it is ok(?)
Someone did say they want to put their rip copied of movies into the cloud plex server for backup or viewing anywhere by their family member (so kind of private to only few family members). That could be problematic.....

The difference is that you actually own the movie in one hand and you're flat up stealing it in another. I'm sure any court would look at each case entirely differently. An easy argument can be made for copyright laws that are in place are for piracy, not backup retention.

Why do you need 2 antennas?
Well I have two. A big UHF/VHF pointed towards the Philly market and one UHF pointed towards the Scranton market (about 60 miles each way from my house). I can get different stations not broadcasted in each. Also always fun to watch the news from a few towns over. Would be better to get a rotor and just have 1 antenna but I set each up myself without oversecuring for the weight of a rotor.
