That's exactly right. Regarding what most retailers refer to as "price protection", Amazon does not officially do that. Meaning, you buy a product and its price drops, within your return period, you would be able to get a refund of the difference. Pretty much EVERY retailer EXCEPT Amazon allows this as there is nothing to stop a customer from just re-buying the product (at the lower sale price) and returning the original full priced one.

Price protection helps retailers keep unnecessary returns low, avoiding having to scrap, re-sell at a discount or send back returned merchandise to the vendor. It is also beneficial to us SD-type people who want to maximize their dollars. Check it out, practically every chain store you can walk into in America allows this and typically prints their policy on the back of your receipt.

In the past, I have been told (on more than one occasion), both over the phone and via chat, by Amazon Customer service that they do not do price protection.. But I could just buy the cheaper item and return the more expensive one I already had lol. I guess Amazon figures the amount of needless returned merchandise and shipping costs are still cheaper than the (seemingly) vast majority of customers unwilling to print a label, slap it on the box and drop it off at UPS to get the difference back lol. I mean, I don't both unless there's a decent percentage difference in pricing. I have definitely done this when something I just bought drops $50-200 overnight, you better believe it!

Lastly, if you are in a situation where doing that is reaaaaally not an option, usually you can call them or chat and the level I person will tell you that you're screwed.. You then ask for the level II person and they might help you out, but lastly the supervisor will usually take care of you if it's not an often thing. In my case, I just got a $130 gift card credit via chat because some RAM upgrades and a pair of SSDs I ordered last week dropped that much in price and I am in Japan right now (so my items were shipped to my FPO) which means shipping product back is expensive and not feasible - So they made a "one-time exception" (lolz, think this was the 4th time Ive had to do this over the years).

So there you have it.. It's possible, but it's the "exception" not the rule w/ Amazon. Keeping UPS drivers busy (in both directions) since 1994!!

Well, just wanted to update you. Received my package today. As expected, ORIGANAL sealed 10 movie pack. Opened it and there was official digital code inside which I redeemed and it worked for all 10 moves. All disks are original and not bootlegs. So, yeah, YMMV, but I, and another 12 buyers, got a steal of a deal for $44.95 Wink

You could buy the discs and rip them to a HTPC (lossless content). Therefore, you have your own media center and no more discs to worry about. Granted, you can steal still (torrents + VPN), but some of us prefer to be honest (most of the time).
