Honestly it was better to get the 2021 model with ads during Prime Day for $75. This is not that slick. I hope they run that deal again for BF

Ahah, what. Woots says: 'Now $54.99 was $249.99', it's an obvious lie.

That is a huge deal for people like me with sensitive eyes (especially in the dark)
People with sensitive eyes should just turn off the backlight (or frontlight, whatever) and turn on your desk lamp and indoor lights, just like reading an actual book.

Reading in the dark with a spot lighting shining into your eyes is just going to cause eye strains.

Woot Refubished Kindles have been an absolute dumpster fire of an experience for me.

I got a Kindle Oasis refurb -- the battery life with a fresh charge, no wifi, medium brightness was just less than an hour of use. Sent it back, got another one -- and it was less than 45 minutes of runtime.

I know the Oasis has a smaller battery, but 45 minutes of casual use is laughable. When using Wifi, you could literally see the battery indicator drop several percentage points each minute.

I wouldn't ever trust the Woot "refurbishment" process to be anything more than "it turns on, wipe it with a cloth, rebox it!"
My oasis lasts about 5-6 hours of constant reading. Not good but not bad either I guess. The buttons are a joy

I also got it for $95 during prime day. I was watching closely, I didn't ever see $75
It was $80, not $75 (sorry $5 mistake).

There was a couple for many people KINDLE30 that took additional % off

Finally bit the bullet and purchased this. Thanks OP. I actually have a regular 2018 Paperwhite but it only has wifi. Consequently I have to bring it back and forth from another location which doesn't have wifi to refresh it and download content. This one is the international edition, so it has 4G cellular connectivity which hopefully means that I can conveniently leave it in the other location.

FYI, Oasis 2 and Oasis 3 (with warm light) have no option to replace the battery. The replacement battery is not even made in market. By design, once the battery goes, the device is obsolete. If you try to take out the battery, it would destroy the screen first.

For the other Kindle Paperwhite, some of them have the option for replacement battery. So, Oasis is really poor in that area.

On top of that, probably because of software issue, once you download a file to your Oasis, the file system would try to re-index no stop. If you have a lot of files, the sorting will drain all the battery power. From my experience, I don't turn on wifi on my Oasis and I rarely add any file to it. It is in high maintenance mode for me.

Consider Oasis 2 was introduced Nov 2017. A refurbished one would have very poor battery life after 6 years.

As a result, I treat my Oasis as a collector item and I use Kindle Paperwhite for my reading.

This seems pretty slick. But I'm hoping for the current edition signature edition. (Bought a case already and want the automatic light adjustments).

This is the 32gb version. Only real difference between the 2021 and 2018 version is warm light adjustments.
In case it helps, I hava a Kindle Voyage, which has adjustable light (main reason why I got it) and never use the feature. I feel i never adjusts to the brightness to my liking when not in a fully lit room. If tgey haven't improved that feature, you may be wasting your money.

I bought the 2021 version, 6.8" w/ adjustable warm light during Prime October. It was $94.99. I can still return it. Should I return to wait for the $75 deal come back? Was the $75 happened during Summer and with Ads-supported?
The time you spent to save the 20d is not worth it

In October, Target had Paperwhites for $100 combined with 20% off Target Circle coupon brought the price to $80 - 5% Redcard.

Amazon had these 9th gen (2021) 8 GB Paperwhite on sale for $90 during Prime Day. If you had a Trade-in, it would bring the price down to $62, not counting whatever $ value you got for the device you traded in.

I don't have a crystal ball but have bought many many Kindles over the years. I think that the Paperwhile will be $90ish again for Black Friday now that it's been out for over 2 years.

If you do Trade-in, I'd suggest sending it in now to make sure you get the 20% off coupon in time. SOME Amazon accounts qualify for Instant Trade-In credit but that's YMMV.

It's micro-usb, not usb-c right? Does seem like a good deal since they're new instead of used, though.

Thinking about buying here

The micro USB and USBC is really a non issue

There are these micro USB to USBC converter on Amazon for couple dollars. Just tape it to the Kindle and can charge it with any USBc cable

I think I am gonna get it tonight. I actually don't care for bigger 6.8 newer ones

Where does the 249 come from? Kindle Paperwhite is never that expensive
This is the 32GB LTE version. It spent 80% of it's time at $249 since 2019 according to keepa price tracking.
