As a stylist and salon owner, this is cheaper than I can get Olaplex. 🚩Amazon is not an authorized retailer. The only people/ places authorized to resell Olaplex are licensed stylists, ulta, and Sephora. That's it. Olaplex actually has a lawsuit with Walmart right now for this same thing. I love this product, but you do not know what you're getting when you buy it this way.

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/product-liability/olaplex-lawsuit/#:~:text=The%20Olaplex%20laws... [forbes.com] The Olaplex lawsuit that was filed in 2023 alleges that Olaplex caused users to experience hair breakage, hair loss and scalp irritation. It is also alleged that Olaplex engaged in a cover-up of this fact while reassuring its users that its products were safe. The plaintiffs say that if Olaplex had been honest about the complaints it was receiving, that may have prevented some of the people who were injured by the product from using it in the first place.

History of Olaplex Lawsuits
Olaplex's legal trouble began in early 2022, just a few months after their IPO. The European Union banned a chemical called lilial (butylphenyl methylpropional) for cosmetic use, stating that it was potentially toxic for reproduction. At the time of the ban, Olaplex was using lilial in its best-selling product. It removed the ingredient, stating that it was not an active ingredient and, thus, the formulation was not affected by its removal.

There was some unrest on social media in the wake of the lilial removal. However, things settled down for almost a year—until February 2023. In that month a lawsuit was filed by nearly 30 women. The lawsuit alleges that Olaplex caused hair loss, breakage, bald spots, and other injuries to their hair and scalp.

One of the allegations was that Olaplex had not recalled any product containing lilial after the reformulation, instead allowing stock on shelves to be sold prior to restocking with the new formulation.

The use of Vitamin B5 (panthenol) was also mentioned. This ingredient can sometimes cause an allergic reaction and contact dermatitis. In addition, plaintiffs pointed out that the products contain sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid. When mixed together, these chemicals can create benzene, a known carcinogen.

I agree that I'm cautious of some things being authentic from Amazon, but after researching a bit, it does seem legit.
1. I see Amazon on the "Authorized Reseller" list from the Olaplex site itself (image attached).
2. I see an Amazon store for Olaplex that directs you to the discounted products in this Slickdeals post: Link Here [amazon.com]
3. The products have over 60,000 reviews of 4.6 out of 5.0 stars. (Fake Spot shows high confidence in reviews: Here [fakespot.com])

Says in product description that "1A battery is required". Does anyone know if they come with this? Don't want my shampoo to be without batteries.
A sized batteries are pretty uncommon; i recommend getting a rechargeable one so you only have to hunt it down once.

I'm sure everyone is different, but when I used Olaplex (this No. 4 shampoo and No. 5 conditioner), I found myself losing a lot more hair in the shower. My normally-dry hair would also feel oily and greasy in less than a day after using it. This seems like a good deal for the product if you use it and it works for you, but I don't think this is a particularly good product, at least for me, personally.

I ended up landing on Maria Nila True Soft shampoo and conditioner, which has reduced frizz and avoided the Olaplex oiliness.

Don't know about others but we stopped using Olaplex products and had to trash our half used bottles of shampoo and conditioner. My wife and my 2 teen daughters loved it at first. Very smooth and light feeling hair after shampooing. But after a couple of times using it, they began to notice excessive hair fall, more than usual. The only change in lifestyle was using Olaplex so they stopped using it, and no surprise the hair fall reduced to normal levels. So our obvious conclusion was Olaplex had some chemical that was contributing to their hairfall. So if you're using this, watch out and return it within the window.
My girlfriend stopped using it too. I was skeptical at first until I saw more than 100 plaintiffs suing them. Tossing all of this in the garbage Instantly

I'm pretty sure these guys have a class action lawsuit going for this very reason.

Check olaplex website, Amazon is there. Don't spread fear and fake news

Scroll down to the bottom, click on legal section, click on anti-diversion section, scroll to the link for authorized retailer, don't lose your due diligence yet, scroll down further to ONLINE retailer…. Amazon. I wish they would take your post off the front page

It's really the case where you need to select the shampoo that is right for you. That's likely why there are people with wildly different experiences using this product. Based on your skin and hair type, you may have different results from others. For $15, it's probably worth trying out. If it works and your hair shows marked improvement, then great! If it doesn't seem to be helping or is actively making things worse, it's not a huge loss and you can toss it.

Amazon reviews are not good
Olaplex is expensive and popular and often fake. I wouldn't even consider buying this from Amazon.

My fiancé had the same outcome and thought it was due to something else. I suggested she stop using it and finally after another half year she did. Low and behold she started to lose less hair after she stopped using it… I would not recommend to anyone this product.

oh jesus, i'm sorry i asked! My daughter is also 12 and a competitive swimmer so she's always looking for hair products. I'll take a look at what you suggested. I'll also look into a 2nd mortgage!
I was a competitive swimmer for many years and all my coaches recommended saturating your hair completely in the locker room shower before entering the chlorinated water. The explanation given to me was that the hair follicles would "fill" with water first thereby preventing the chlorine from doing as much harm. I am not personally sure of the science but, all I know is that it seemed to work. Meanwhile, I am a true Olaplex fan. It's pricey, but I love it and have not personally experienced as some of the other indicated. It almost never goes on sale. I think this brand received a huge boost when Kim Kardashian reportedly stated that this was her shampoo/conditioner of choice.

Ty for posting this. I love how people just turned a blind eye and instead of discussing this, they are having a discussion about how amazing it is lol. Thanks for posting regardless OP.

This is the best shampoo I've ever used. It's very rich, so you need very little, and Olaplex has the only patented ingredient that actually mends broken hair bonds. It's very helpful for damaged hair.
