1. Get one number for phone calls and texts ONLY. You are known to others (friends, banks, insurance companies...) by that number. Use a very cheap plan that has little to no data for it.
2. Get another number for data ONLY. Switch to the cheapest you can find every a few months. You are always a new user because you don't need to port in your number for it.

Not if you have a "dual SIM" phone.

With two SIMs active in one phone, you can use one for calls/texts, and the other for data.

I use Google voice as my main number and keep on activating new cards using a temporary Visa card. Works flawlessly

The point is at the very tip, edge or peak. You have to get there first to really grasp the magnitude of the point.

For any prior Boost customers thinking about this deal, Boost is leaving AT&T's services and going primarily to T-Mobile. They no longer allow you to request an AT&T SIM.

Anyone know how long I can go before activating ? Some say 60 days some say longer.
There is an expiration date on the purchased sim card YMMV but in my humble experience, around 9 to 12 months.

If you use google voice as main number and forward boost number to GV, is there a lag? I've done this 10 or so years ago, but wasn't flawless at that time. Does this work without issues nowadays? I googled this topic but didn't find relevant hits. Do you mind sharing your trick and your experience? TIA.
Edit - For example, does WhatsApp work with GV? I didn't think so.

You are correct. Just about any modern phone will work with this T-Mobile backed SIM.

AT&T are the tightwads about allowable phones.

WhatsApp works with Google Voice ( I am using it as my WhatsApp number-- but GV doesn't work with Line or WeChat, and may not be accepted as a legitimate cell number by some services requiring a non- VOIP contact phone number). I use Google Voice on the phone's data. I can also set GV calls to ring my Boost cell number and can set it to show either the incoming phone number or my GV number.

I didn't forward the Boost calls to GV, because it is a number I don't give out to people-- rather, I give out the GV number.

EDIT: See the discussion after this as it appears that WhatsApp has an update sand may no longer accept VOIP numbers.

Got it, thanks for replying. I researched a bit. WhatsApp doesn't work for a few unlucky GV numbers, apparently. Also mixed results if you are on iPhone. Seems like YMMV.

It seems with the new WhatsApp update they may no longer accept Google Voice and other VOIP phone numbers. There may be a workaround using a TextNow phone number and receiving a call to get the verification code. This is explained here: https://www.unictool.com/whatsapp...ification/

Yes. Well, I use this 3-month package with a Boost Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot device and then connect that hotspot to a OpenWRT router to get $5 Internet per month. I use it to run some smart home stuff that doesn't take up much bandwidth.

What do you do after the third month?
