I don't need to find an amp for you. Everything I stated is accurate.

Reference: 20yrs SMPS and amplifier design. put plenty of money in my mouth doing it too LOL.

also here is a short discussion on modern receiver power supplies and transformers that can bring you up to date: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...g.3165545/

finally, I didn't say what you are asking proof of. I didn't say any particular amp produced any particular power. I just said your perception of size and weight for a high powered amp were based upon 1980s assumptions and best practices. It isn't how amplifiers are designed today.

Have a good one.

Amazing receiver and the best price I've ever seen for this new by far. I have one in my livingroom setup (5.1) and my man cave setup (7.2.2).

Getting the HDMI spec to allow VRR as well as a full set of pre-outs was what drew me to this. Remote is lame (and not backlit), but otherwise, a great unit.

This is practically the same as Onkyo Rz50 apart from speakers HPF is set at 80hz iirc. Warm sounding and nice with inbuilt Dirac. I have seen same price at Best Buy before and open box a bit cheaper.

Does this have a good App experience with Android or iOS? Using Yamaha now and like its app interface. Thanks.

Can this do 5.2.4? It seems it can but wanted to make sure. What about 7.2.4? It suggests that it is possible with preamps but not sure what is the limitation requiring a preamp?
Also does anyone know if the sub outs can be calibrated individually or if it is just an internal y split terminal?

I have Denon s760h that I want to upgrade for Dirac and more channels. I integrated Denon into homeassistant but not sure if I can do the same with this? Does anyone know? It seems it uses Onkyo integration but wondering if it has bad quirks.

Thanks.

I tried this and the rz50 and like you said it was warm sounding which I like but the rz50 sounded a little hollow in the mids in my listening area. Both receivers however were anything but seamless with dirac live. Dirac made everything sound incredible but the subwoofer sounded like it was playing a different movie than one being played. The timing and bass were so off after calibrating with dirac. I would think that it would sound good without buying the extra live bass. I would say the reason is maybe my listening area but pioneer's MCACC was spot on with bass but the overall sound wasn't nearly as good.

I'm almost tempted to buy the pioneer and just use the MCACC but the global crossover on the pioneer is what concerns me though. All my speakers are capable of doing an 80hz crossover except my Atmos enabled speakers that start at 150hz. If I set the global crossover at 80 or 100 or 120hz even will this hurt the Atmos speakers or damage the AVRs amp?

This Pioneer or Denon X3800H if the Denon goes on sale for $1000 again?

Speakers have passive filters built in so your speaker will be fine. The advantage of being able to set active filters on the receivers is that the receiver does not have to work as hard producing frequencies you don't want certain speakers to reproduce anyway.

Depending on how serious the sound, the passive filters on your speakers may be good enough sound wise. I wouldn't worry about damaging your speakers though.

Thanks for the swift reply. Would an 80hz crossover be detrimental to the AVR with said speakers?

I've never heard the Denon but does it come with dirac? In my case dirac doesn't matter. I like to try out something over $500 in my listening area but that's not always possible as return shipping may be high and return policies may differ. I literally bought the lx505 and the rz50 from Amazon thinking "free returns" while including time to try and work the AVRs. I got email complaints from Amazon threatening to cancel my membership. Best Buy is an option but a 2 week return policy while learning the in's and out's of working a particular AVR might be rushing things.

What atmos speakers do you have?

The receiver will be fine sending 80Hz+ to your speakers.

In any case, just keep the receiver well ventilated.

They're the original Andrew Jones add ons and the frequency response starts at 150hz

For subwoofer with Dirac try setting volume low when it does the initial sweep and then increase the volume when it's calibrating. It's a hack but works. Andrew mentioned this and worked like a charm for me as well.

Best Buy has holiday returns till January 13th. My suggestion is for also test Sony AN1000 it's more plug and play and cleaner sounding. It's almost like it's newer albeit smaller power supply but cleaner sounding.

The 10th & 11th Channel will not be amplified by this receiver & only the pre-outs. You can use the old AVReceiver CD 2 channels as input - temporarily until you buy a power amplifier or not.

I rarely use the app. I used the DIRAC app to calibrate and then only used the Pioneer app for some other basic config. I primarily use a universal remote control. The few times I have used it, it was well laid out and intuitive. The app that came with the Eite SC-85 I had before this often struggled to even find my receiver. Such isn't the case here.

Have you used it to drive speakers in three zones? Looking for some feedback as that'd be my primary use for it.
