Soon as one of these sub $200 Chromebooks comes with 8GB of RAM I'll jump on it.... Hoping to find something during Black Friday sales.
I have been testing Asus CX34 chromebook plus recently. It has 8G of RAM.
When I start only chrome browser and youtube, it already consumes 5.6G of RAM.
Maybe there are other processes going on that I am not aware of. I turned on the developer mode and installed some Linux apps. The Linux version in Asus CX34 is Debian 11.
Modern chromebook, once you turn on developer mode, you can install virtual machine.
You can test out Windows 10 on your chromebook. That's why you need more RAM.
I was able to install Windows 10 with Virtual Machine but not Windows 11 as it rejects the hardware. (All the instructions can be found by google)
So, I understand 4G of RAM in a chromebook is not enough. It explains why it is usually sluggish.

Waiting for Chromebook Plus to go on sale.... Need 8 GB RAM.
Same here. I have a specific use case that is not super memory intensive but any bit extra helps. Recently moved from a Samsung 3 with 2GB to a Samsung 4 4020 with 4GB and it is able to perform my task about twice as fast.
Really hoping for an 8GB with decent processor and small screen to come out so I can return the Samsung 4. I might consider just adding Chromeflex on a cheap windows laptop that comes out but for my repetitive task I just prefer the simplicity of a base chromebook. 14" is about as big as I would want to get. Hoping for something more in the 11" range though as it makes lugging around easier.

I have run Citrix on a few CBs. There a Citrix app in the Play Store, so if the CB supports apps, then it should work.
Edit: never mind Target one is listed as non-touch display
