1. Trade in device and use that credit to pay off phone in 36months while keeping phone plan. For UU on verizon this comes up to (100avg x 36) - 300 Walmart GC
2. No trade in, but pay off phone immediately within 3 days of receiving to avoid activation fees. For the iphone 15 pro, this comes up to be 999- 300 Walmart GC regardless what plan you choose.
Follow steps included this wiki to port out your locked device to other carrier.
I have no horse in this race but here is the email you get from Walmart. Watch your SPAM FOLDERS.
FROM: Shopping Card Gift on behalf of eshoppingcard
SUBJECT: You have a Walmart eGift Card!
Same for 2021 and 2022.
AT&T details
Order/cancel? Activation starts on ship date (or store activation date). AT&T does not prorate after 3 days, so if you don't receive the device by the 3rd day you have to pay for the entire month of service.
To get the activation fees waived (if you're not cancelling within 3 days) be sure to sign up for AARP. It can be free or almost free
https://slickdeals.net/f/17039080-aarp-1-year-for-free-or-4-capital-one-offer-or-chase-card-offer-and-maybe-make-money-see-details-and-free-power-cord-charger-or-trunk-organizer
- Contact AT&T over chat and ask them to waive your activation fee since it's an AARP benefit. This will save $35/line.
- Set up autopay from att.com or MyAtt app to save $10/line/month (debit; or credit -$5/month).
- Do you have AT&T fiber home internet? Contact AT&T over chat to "bundle" home internet plus wireless for a $20/month discount. You can also sign up for home internet after getting wireless to receive the same $20/month discount. There are loads of sign-up offers include $350 gift card back for new customers https://slickdeals.net/f/17073514-new-at-t-fiber-customers-purchase-at-t-fiber-internet-plan-300mbps-get-up-to-350-in-reward-cards-or-logitech-g-cloud-gaming-handheld-device-6-200-reward-card
- Pay off installment plan from MyAtt app or at att.com. You can do this as soon as activated/device ships.
- Turn on iPhone and let it activate with the pushed AT&T eSim (should be automatic once connected to wifi). Make a phone call.
- Transfer the AT&T eSim to another unlocked iPhone. "Use eSIM Quick Transfer on iPhone" Procedure https://support.apple.c
om/en-us/HT212780
- Make a call on the unlocked iPhone. Check in myAtt or att.com and check every few minutes until the unlocked iPhone shows up in your account as your device.
- Request unlock https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ as a non-ATT customer, with non-ATT phone# and email for the new iPhone
- Check email and click to acknowledge unlock request. May take a few minutes to receive this.
- Wait for unlock approval email. It could take only a few minutes or up to a day
- new iPhone will be unlocked once you try a different provider eSIM. You can either use a new eSIM or transfer one from your other iPhone.
- If you want to, cancel AT&T service over chat or phone so that you don't go beyond 3 days post activation. If you instead want to keep the service, do everything I mentioned above to bring your monthly cost down.
Edit: AT&T chat is closed on the weekend I called reseller support and they refused to cancel the line and said I had to wait 30 days. I had to port out to another carrier.- Call *PORT on the new iPhone to get a porting pin. You also need your wireless account number (displayed when you login to att.com).
- I had a great experience porting to usmobile.com for their 50 day free trial. Just sign up and fill out the details including port (AT&T Postpaid, account number, port pin). Transfer completed in minutes!
Verizon details
- check out the recent iPhone 13 community wiki on unlock (60 days on iPhone 14/15!), pay off, 3 day rule etc. for Verizon
https://slickdeals.net/f/17028796-verizon-or-at-t-128gb-apple-iphone-13-new-or-added-line-8-30-mo-for-36-months-299-total-more-free-s-h
- We haven't found a way to unlock the iPhone 14/15 like we did the 13 because it has an eSIM assigned that gets activated on boot, and no physical SIM card. Also the phones are showing Verizon locked and not flex reseller policy. It will automatically unlock 60 days post activation however.

You order VZ iphone 14 pro at Walmart for : $845 + tax
Then wait till you reive the the Gift card.
Cancel VZ within 3 days and get a bill around $12 prorated rate.
In the end your iPhone 14 pro cost : $845 + Tax -$400( WMGC) + $12 = $457 + tax
This way you don't have 36 month plan.
For trade-in: only if you want to stick to 36-month plan which works best for whoever have exiting plan with VZ or ATT and doesn't plan to switch carrier soon
You order VZ iphone 15 pro max at Walmart for : $1149+ tax
Then you go to store and trade in any iPhone ( Iphne 12 pro and above ) to get $1000 credit.
In the end your iPhone 15 pro max cost : $1149 + Tax -$400( WMGC) - $1000 ( credit trade in) = -$151 + Tax + ( value of Iphone 12 pro and above which is around maybe $200- $300 ?)
This way you will have to stick with VZ or ATT for 36 month.

For example a $1149 phone is sold at $1049 rest of the year. This is hidden all under the 36 month pricing. $30 a month vs $32.
Authorized retailers are never allowed to sell higher than Apple's retail price. This missing $100 off is what makes everyone think they always raise the price when the $300/$400/$500 e-gift card promos come. So net wise it is actually a $200/$300/$400 off for Black Friday.
Thanks. Will pick from WM. If they bump up the price, we can get the Target GC deal and get unlocked phone from Apple.
Apple has huge inventory of 14Plus no wonder they are $500 in GC.
Just upgrade your existing line.
As a matter of fact if you trade in a phone, you will be entering billing credits jail for 36 months.
Just do what you did the prior years, it is the same deal and process every year. They do not touch your existing plan unless you get a commission hungry unscrupulous sales rep at the cell phone kiosk and sell you on a new plan. Be sure to tell them NO plan change, phone upgrade financing only. If you are wary, review the paperwork before you sign and go pay the taxes on the phone. Once you pay at the register, you should be receiving the e-gift card number and PIN via email right afterwards. Mine have always come in under 5 minutes for the past several years. Great to use it as a down payment on the next phone.

Has anyone actually done hte egift card trick themselves? I just imagine with BF deals, the desk will be swamped with people and it might be tricky to get the person to wait 30 minutes and then process the other phones no?
