Requires AT&T service and phone payment plan. You may want to include that in your title.

Hey, did you paid off the device after the status changed to "shipped" or when you received it? Mine just changed to shipped and was wondering if I should pay off the phone and cancel the line. Thank you!
I didn't payoff yet. I asked a frnd to upgrade his line. I will pay it off after I receive the monthly
bill

I got a bill of 700$ for phone plus 128$ for service from verizon. I canceled the account before 3 days. I tried but did not get any option to pay off device. What are my next options apart from going to verizon shop? I tried calling on support number but not finding any option to talk to customer care.

My verizon phone also is showing 4000 - us reseller flex policy. Sim-lock status: locked

If I activate it with metro tmobile, which I use anyway, will it work?

What makes you think it will not unlock after 60 days? Many ppl in this thread, as well as from the earlier iPhone 13 deal thread, all claimed that Verizon iPhones will unlock automatically after 60 days.
Because it doesn't say its locked to verizon maybe? Mines says same, 4000- US Reseller. Should it say its locked to Verizon?

Y'all have to be careful. Flex reseller policy means the phone locks to the first sim activated on the phone! So best option is either Verizon or one of their MVNOs (tracfone/total wireless/straight talk). Then you wait 60 days and it's unlocked. With AT&T/mvno you could get stuck without being on AT&T. If your phone isn't in their database they can't unlock it. Then they might require 60 days in AT&T postpaid to unlock, or even worse 6 months on AT&T prepaid Frown

So the best option is actually tracfone AT&T. Here you could get lucky and your phone is in the AT&T database and it unlocks right away. Worst case it will unlock in 60 days due to Verizon owned unlock policy.

Edit: honestly I'm not sure if Tracfone will even let you activate an eSIM on AT&T, they may force Verizon now.

I don't mind being locked to metro tmobile as I am going to stay with them anyway. Question is will the phone accept an esim from them?

Yes it will accept it . But it would be a better idea to do the free T-Mobile data trial (3 months) and be auto-unlocked in 40 days. The metro eSIM will likely still work if you transfer it after T-Mobile activation. In the old days metro was tied to phone imei so make sure you update that first with them before trying the eSIM transfer.

https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/free-trial

Note: you could use the T-Mobile eSIM for data and the metro one for voice/text. You can have 2 active eSIMs.

Probably? The terms documents said you earn the GC after activating service. If you return the phone they won't give the GC though.

They should give payment options on the bill. Otherwise you should be able to pay by calling 800-VER-IZON number.
Edit: my bill said: go.vzw.com/bill [vzw.com] --> my bill was there and you can pay there

There isn't much you can do. You can go through activation once the phone arrives (turn it on, let it activate on cellular). Then you can try to either unlock or cancel, pleading your case that you just activated. Otherwise, check the community wiki for money saving tips on AT&T.

I am unable to unlock my phone even after multiple attempts and it is asking me to wait for 60 days. I do not wish to keep the account open for 2 months and pay the bill. Will I be able to unlock it after 60 days even if I cancel my account today?. I will be using the new phone with my current at&t prepaid number.
