- Pay off installment plan from MyAtt app or at att.com. You can do this as soon as activated/device ships.
- Turn on iPhone and let it activate with the pushed AT&T eSim (should be automatic once connected to wifi). Make a phone call.

- Check email and click to acknowledge unlock request. May take a few minutes to receive this.
- Wait for unlock approval email. It could take only a few minutes or up to a day
- new iPhone will be unlocked once you try a different provider eSIM. You can either use a new eSIM or transfer one from your other iPhone.
- If you want to, cancel AT&T service over chat or phone so that you don't go beyond 3 days post activation. If you instead want to keep the service, do everything I mentioned above to bring your monthly cost down.
Edit: AT&T chat is closed on the weekend I called reseller support and they refused to cancel the line and said I had to wait 30 days. I had to port out to another carrier.- Call *PORT on the new iPhone to get a porting pin. You also need your wireless account number (displayed when you login to att.com).
- I had a great experience porting to usmobile.com for their 50 day free trial. Just sign up and fill out the details including port (AT&T Postpaid, account number, port pin). Transfer completed in minutes!

- We haven't found a way to unlock the iPhone 14/15 like we did the 13 because it has an eSIM assigned that gets activated on boot, and no physical SIM card. Also the phones are showing Verizon locked and not flex reseller policy. It will automatically unlock 60 days post activation however.

I tried the eSIM swap trick and it didn't work. I bought Iphone 15 pro on a new ATT line, once the line registered on my account, I paid it off. Then I swapped the new number onto an unlocked phone. However, this was a phone that was previously on the ATT network. Then, when I went to submit the unlock request, it gave me an error saying I needed to wait 60 days.
However, I then put the new number into an unlocked Verizon phone. I waited a couple hours and submitted the unlock request and it went through right away.
I have no idea if this mattered at all or if it would have cleared up anyways, but just wanted to point it out in case it helps.

so I'm going to lose about $105, probably closer to $150 once all fees are paid, of value of gift card. I can't cancel earlier because the phone is locked and I don't have a spare.

3) 11/23 - I created my Verizon account, and added credit card to payment methods
4) 11/24 - Paid off via bot (800-837-4966)
5) 11/25 - Cancelled my line via Verizon chat
6) 11/26 - Phone delivered
7) 11/26 - purchased $15 TracFone plan ($10 with Autopay enabled) and activated the phone with that
8) 11/27 - Called TFW unlock department to submit unlock request (1-888-442-5102)
9) 11/30 - Called TFW again to check status after 72h have passed (was told to call on 12/1 again)
10) 12/1 - Called TFW again - device unlocked
When I canceled my line on 25th, I checked on sickw.com and it showed my phone sim lock status as reseller flex policy, so that is why I decided to go with TFW. Before cancelling, phone was showing as locked to Verizon.

Now I just need to figure out how to unlock my ATT phone.
Update: NVM- realized that my payment method did not get saved on my account even though I had done it initially. Once I re-saved it, it was all set. Was able to payoff thru the bot.
Also, the eSim from Verizon is still present in my phone. Is that the reason the phone is still locked to Verizon? What if I remove the eSim? Would it change the lock to reseller like others who cancelled their lines before first booting up the phones?
Maybe after Dec 13th we have some better luck with unlocking the phone. I've not tried yet with friends ATT eSIM. If I do later this week, I'll post an update here. I've activated cricket free trial on the phone, just to try if that changes anything, but no luck. Cricket eSIM works fine, but didn't help with the unlock.
ATT closed my ticket but when I click on the link there is zero information on how they resolved it. Unlock portal still showing that device is connected to an account, even though there is still the underlying database error
