Sorry this may be a silly question but does this make regular coffee?
This is to make expresso shots. You can then add milk to make a latte. But no, no regular coffee.

I have also been looking, and I am thinking this espresso machine is fairly new, no reviews, videos, etc. on it, NOTHING. All I found was this manufacturer info page which has some good additional info and the manual. https://www.gourmia.com/item.asp?item=10421

I have been looking at getting a super automatic for the past few months, but based on the cost (and maintenance) vs. me not being sure we would use it enough to justify that price, I decided to pick up a semi-auto. I just got the Mr Coffee Cafe Barista(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007K9OIMU) from Amazon Warehouse in "Like New" condition (it was new in open box for $111, so a sweet deal vs. $199 normal price), and it is actually pretty awesome! The frother works great, the drinks come out good, it is easy to use and clean, etc.

I obviously can't confirm, and who knows about the internals, but this Gourmia looks almost identical in design to the Mr. Coffee, except it adds an Americano option that mine doesn't have.

If it is as good as the Mr Coffee that I just got, then this is a crazy good deal! I will pick this up to have one in my office, for $50 worth it to have a back up... because that it the biggest issue I have read about any of these machines... they love to break.
Go for the super auto. I got a Philips 3200 recently and it's been life changing. The maintenance is pretty non-existent. You dump the water tray periodically, dump the grounds periodically, (they both have indicators, the water one is a float peg indicator and the ground indicator is on the control panel), etc. The only maintenance is taking out the brew group once a week to rinse it, and lubing it every 2 months I believe. Taking out the brew group is as easy as just opening a door behind where the water reservoir normally is and pulling a lever as you pull it out - it just pops back in after and you close the door. Of course periodically you might descale and/or use coffee oil remover pellets, but that's even typical in a traditional drip coffeemaker. The deal was posted here - I think it was $499. Just saw your comment and wanted to comment based on being a new owner. I don't know if the Philips 3200 is the best in that price range (although I did do some research) but for our purposes it's great. Virtually zero complaints. The milk thing (which I don't use, but my GF and her kids do) is amazing - it's one of those auto frothers. All you have to do is pull the cup off the front and rinse it afterwards. I guess if I had to choose an annoyance, I'd say the water reservoir is too small. I refill it at least once a morning (we usually have about 3 people hitting the machine up). Hope it helps. Not trying to do an ad for the machine, just the idea of super autos in general. I'm very happy.

Even without considering the $50 machine in this post, telling someone to get a $500+ machine over a $150 is silly.

Would I rather own a Honda Accord over a Chevy Sonic, of course, but they are two different animals on $$$$

Thanks, I appreciate the guidance! One of my biggest issues with the super autos besides the maintenance (which seems quite varied depending on the machine) was cost. Whenever a deal has been posted over the last few months... and I would look at the deal, and the ranges/comparables... I would invariably end up wanting one that is several thousand dollars :/. Assuming we used it frequently, AND that whatever machine for that kind of $ worked very well and was built to last, etc. then I supposed it is worth it. I mean... I have spent in that neighbor hood for a guitar... although I tell myself the guitars are an investment Big Grin. But unlike a guitar, I feel like it would be way harder to get my money back out of a used espresso machine, hence my wanting to make sure that 1) it will get used past the novelty period, and 2) that it will last a while.

$500 for a super automatic that works well and isn't a PITA sounds like an amazing deal relative to the $1k-$2k range that I kept ending up in... still a chunk of change, but way easier to handle the risk. And I guess if I can pick one up with a reasonable extended warranty then the piece of mind would be worth it.

I am checking out this philips now, hopefully I can find a deal on one since it is the shopping season and all.

I am gonna end up with like 5 espresso makers in the house if this keeps up :laugh out loud

The person I was replying to specifically had said they had recently been considering whether a super automatic was worth it. I wanted to add some detail for him as a recent purchaser. I never suggested anyone looking at this deal broadly should instead get a $500+ machine, and I agree that would be stupid. I'm disappointed you took my comment so uncharitably.

Haha! I feel you. In the Philips line at least, the top end one really doesn't make up for the difference in price imho. I know there are better brands (Jura, for example) that go for $$$, but even they have some shortcomings that I'm not sure make up for the difference. Either way, yeah, we're the same in that regard. I always research the hell out of things, and get sucked into examining every last detail. Good luck! haha

I mean, if getting the espresso maker as a gift, say for the in-laws, is the whole toxic chemical thing even an issue? I kid, I kid LMAO

LOL, you knew exactly where I would end up LMAO. I looked at the 3200 on Amazon... and of course they had the recommendation thingie for the 4300 that adds some things for only a few hundred more... and so clicked on that... and the recommendation thingie pointed to the TOTL "PHILIPS Saeco Xelsis" for like $1200... in less than 60 seconds I was on a page for a (admittedly nice looking) MSRP $2000 super auto Applause. Also, yep, Jura is the brand I ended up looking at more than any other I think.

NOTE: still looking at the phillips range... I always enjoy when I can get a TOTL and pay the midrange (in this case $500 I guess) price. We'll see...

Thinking of getting the espresso machine to "practice" / get used to learning how to pull an espresso before I spend $600 on a real one. I have Nepresso vertuo and original line and they are good for the most part but I want to learn to brew a real espresso
