With regards to the pricing concerns, you are getting three games in two (Catan, Seafarers, and Cities and Knights), and after pricing the 2d versions on Amazon, you are only paying $60 more for the 3d versions.
Lastly, the tiles are not cheap plastic but are painted and highly detailed. May not be important to some, but great for the Catan enthusiasts that to have a more eye appealing version of this classic game!

I have both of the 3D sets.
Pros:
-I love having the resin models and tiles locked into the sea borders. The board doesn't shift at all. Very useful.
-Everything is very well made (only 1 piece broke and it was easily super glued back together).
-Base game box is well marked and everything fits back in easily. Setup and tear down is a breeze.
-the pieces are painted and that costs a lot of production money but they look great.
Cons:
-pricey, but considering how much quality you're getting, it's reasonable.
-Seafarers set box is horribly marked and not well delineated from the Knights expansion pieces. You have to know what pieces are for which expansion out of the box and getting stuff back in the blue box is a pain. Plus the blue trays are lower quality plastic than the red trays in the base game.
-The boxes are huge and heavy and don't fit on a Kallax. I don't mind this because I have a closet, but make sure they are supported on the shelf.
At $100 each, I'd say it's worth it for the base game. I could have skipped the expansion box and think $80 is more appropriate. But there is a lot of content here and the pieces are high quality.

No one should care about what gamers think, not even the developers who sell them games care what they think.
