So is Klipsch really a player in the subwoofer game now? I replaced my older 12" Klipsch with monolith subs a while back as the consensus was Klipsch simply didn't make subs that could hit those deep lows. Wouldn't mind having my mains and subs match again...
Depends on who you ask but there isn't much benefit to matching your sub to loudspeakers.

I currently have 2 SVS NSD 12 subs. The frequency response is 23-270 Hz ±3dB.

How much of a difference would upgrading to this sub be? It goes 16 - 141 hz .
You are comparing a sealed sub vs a ported sub.
You should expect a significant difference with low extension.

That's a good sized room. I built a 7.2.4 home theater in my old house with a smaller room than that. This Dolby pdf helped a lot. You don't have to be perfect, but balance what you can. An AVR with good room correction software like Dirac Live goes a long way. 2 subs are definitely better than 1. I read a lot about room treatment bc that really helps the software not have to work as hard. Mix of soft and reflective panels, carpet, throw rug go a long way. I used JBL subs, JBL in wall and ceiling speakers. I really miss it, especially on Sunday for 4 screens of football. A lot of work, but it really helped bump up the value of the house though.

I'd be tempted to jump on this but powered subs are so much easier.

I agree that is a good resource.
I would add the more you can follow those placement recommendations the more optimal.

Dolby got away from labeling what is best and now are just options(smart business move).
Properly placed front/back quality object based overhead speakers is most optimal in my experience.

Dolby Atmos utilizes your core setup(ie 5/7/9.1) so having a good one plays a significant role on performance.

People often sacrifice this in order to include Atmos within a budget.
IMO you should build/have a good core setup prior to moving up to object based soundtracks.

Because rooms have frequency null zones depending on your placement of your sub. There is almost always some, so 2 subs in different parts of the same room can even out for a more smooth frequency line/curve. You can measure your room and sub with the app REW and a decent mic plugged into your laptop.
I would add placement is crucial for optimal performance.
Improper placement of a 2nd sub can make things worse also.

This or SVS pb 1000 pro. A neighbor is selling the svs on 1000 pro for 450 what do you suggest?
A lot of variables play into that.
Ask your neighbor if he will let you audition within your own setup.
If it performs well for the $450, offer him $400 Wink
See if he bought it directly from SVS, if so when and if he has proof.
SVS warranty if transferrable.

If I have an SPL-120, is it better to get a second one for $350 or sell my existing one and get a single one of these?

No I'm not. I'm new to all this.. I was thinking of getting Sonos arc and sub from Costco… just saw this deal and wanted to see which one is superior
I have a Sonos beam 2, a couple One's and a sub I got off of Facebook marketplace. I invested in it and set it up throughout the 1st floor mainly to blast music while doing chores and the occasional movie in the den on a secondary TV, but it doesn't at all compare to even one of my SVS PB-1000s I have in our loft/main TV area. I like how seamless the ecosystem is, but the Sonos sub is by far, IMO, the most overpriced and overrated of all Sonos gear. I got my two PB-1000s for $370 each and I'm looking at this Klipsch, which is close to the price of the Sonos sub, because it seems to absolutely crush my existing setup. If you're just looking at subs, I'd say there are dozens of them at the Sonos sub price point that will perform significantly better.

One question though, is this geared more towards movies or music?

Well, received the sub today from Adorama. Unfortunately UPS gave it their standard treatment and the wood cabinet is crushed on two corners. Adorama support wasn't very confidence inspiring... they told me to send them some photos, and they'd open a damage claim with UPS. When I asked when I'd get a replacement, they said that would be determined based on the outcome of the damage claim with UPS.

I'm getting SUPER nervous that I'm about to get screwed over, since Adorama seems to want the customer to wait while they work everything out with UPS. I'd think quality customer service would be to work this stuff out in the background and just get the customer taken care of right then.
Follow up on this since talking to Adorama more on it. They've scheduled a UPS pickup, and then UPS will also inspect the item.

Still no word on when / if I'll get a replacement. I'm super disappointed with how this is being handled by Adorama. The customer shouldn't be left hanging while Adorama and UPS fight over damage compensation.

I'd highly recommend avoiding this deal, and maybe Adorama unless you're confident the item won't be damaged in transit.

Yeah I bought this and the 8000F from Adorama. UPS dropped my 8000F out of the back of an airplane or something. They work but the boxes were absolutely destroyed and lots of cosmetic damage. Every time I talked to adorama it was like I was started a whole new support ticket. So anything not contained within that ticket wasn't passed along even though I was supposedly talking to the same person. They kept suggesting a return / refund but I told them the packing materials were not suitable for return. They wouldn't offer new boxes / a solution to that.
They eventually offered a partial refund which while I'm not fully satisfied with was better than trying to come up with a way to package it.
The worst part of this is - they must've broken their website in such a way that you can't use their store credit on an order. Their support kept instructing me to click a button that didn't exist. When I'd send screen shots showing them that it didn't exist they'd ignore me and tell me to call sales to have them make an order using credit. But then sales would tell me price higher than website.
Took me 42 emails and 4+ phone calls just to use the store credit they gave me. Not including dealing with GETTING the store credit. Don't buy from them. And Id probably honestly avoid anywhere that ships anything heavy / fragile like speakers with UPS as UPS dgaf.

Sure hope you get things worked out - I was going to bite, but I will wait now - feel bad you have to go through that experience. Best of luck getting things sorted out! I'm glad I didn't have a problem with Adorama when I ordered my first setup from them four years ago.

It's probably for the best anyhow - I could make the 14" work, but the cabinets are so darn large and I really don't feel like moving a 85+lb subwoofer downstairs twice lol...I know it'll stay put once it's there, but ugh...no thanks. I'll look for a deal on the 12" ones Wink.

They haven't offered me a return & refund, or partial credit offer. I called them a couple times, emailed photos, and a follow up email, and the best information I've gotten so far is UPS will pick it up next business day so they can inspect the damage, and nothing will happen until their claim with UPS is resolved.

If they had said, "oh, sorry about that, want to return it for a refund?" I would have agreed and re-ordered the replacement sub myself no problem.
