Similar paint to the Lunar Shift. If so, stay clear. The paint chips and will cause drifting. Look it up before buying.
It's called controller drift, or analog stick drift, because one or both thumbsticks will drift, or move, in an undesired direction even when you aren't touching them
I love the Xbox controller but it seems they are so notorious for stick drift we should be looking for deals on soldering irons instead.

For anyone that is knowledgeable about controllers, do you think the Xbox Wireless Controller (when on sale) is the best controller I could get for PC gaming under $50?
Depends what type of games you play and if you want to use it wirelessly or not.
PS5 controllers are rechargeable. These xbox controllers require batteries, or to buy a rechargeable battery pack.
I would go with PS5, unless you play fighting games. The dpad on the xbox controller is better for fighting games.

I use my Xbox controller when I game on my PC and it works flawlessly

most likely, mainly due to most of the games being designed around the xbox controller button scheme. I mean they are solid controllers, regardless of this stick drift boogeyman you read in the comments. I used to use a dualshock 4, it was great as a gamepad, but there were some titles that only had xbox layout for gamepad modes.
Every controller has drift. Switch has drift. PS5 controllers were experiencing drift just months after the PS5 came out! Nothing unique to Xbox controllers. In fact, from my personal experience, Xbox controllers seem to experience the least amount of drift. Switch is the worst, with PS5 close behind.
Seems to be only certain generations of controllers, as our XB1S, PS4, PS3, and PS2 controllers don't have any drift, while all our XB360 controllers exhibited some degree of drift.

Yes, I think the Xbox Controller is the best controller you can get for PC in that price range.

I actually view the Xbox Controller using batteries as a huge plus. I don't have to worry about charging it, I don't have to worry about the built-in battery degrading and losing its charge, and in case you discover a controller's battery is dead, swapping in a new set of rechargeable AA batteries takes seconds.
Also, I find the Xbox thumbstick layout more ergonomic.
Love this controller and grips. Color change is not as dramatic as pic. Mostly looks like teal sometimes plum purple. Have had no problem with chipping.

To each their own. I don't like to worry about having to recharge and swap batteries when using a wireless controller.
I use an xbox controller, but I use it wired, so I don't have to worry about batteries.
I've had Lunar Shift for a long time, no paint chips, no drift.
I'm happy you got one that worked out for you. However you type that specific color into a Google search there are tons of people who had the issue, again glad you had good luck with it.
Just the cautionary tale where I reinforce doing research before purchasing.

Great idea! I did the same, but added the 2-year protection plan just in case.

My black Series X controller lasted 16 months of heavy multi household use before it developed stick drift.

Well I was just trying to fix my sons with this exact color tonight. He's had it for 4 months. Very disappointed.
