I went to my local Metro, they had an S23 FE in stock for $99. However, the stipulation was that the owner first has to make a couple hundred on accessories with the sale because he's losing money on the deal. Lol!

Not everyone wants to wait 6 months to unlock though.

Yup. The top performer phones don't have micro sd which is absolute bs. Thx apple. Your greed has spread to other brands who swore to not stoop to that level but eventually did anyway.

That's pretty crazy that they pass the losses to the individual stores Frown

Dont get me started.. my old s10(the last with microsd) is finally dying and almost no new phones got em. Very sad.
I bought S10E unlocked in 2020 and it is already dying. It frequently disconnects from Wifi and the display screen is yellowish for some reason Frown

Basically all the Metro stores are franchises, so it's luck of the draw if you get an honest store/sales rep

One of my biggest reasons to not get an iPhone, and now Google Photos keeps whining about paying for photo storage, but I have a 256GB micro SD card. My Moto Ace 5G whatever is good enough, but I just want better picture quality. When I go to concerts, like Incubus, Dirty Heads and Sublime, I'm seeing great picture quality on phones around me, and mine just kinda sucks.
get a SONY phone

the SNAPDRAGON 8 GEN 1 just ruined this FE models... which were already glorified S22s to begin with

wait for an s23 deal.... even the base model will probably have better battery life than this garbage

Unless things have drastically changed, no, he's not actually losing money on the deal... Sounds more like salesmen talk. However, it could be argued that he'd be losing money with opportunity cost (e.g. might have been able to make more profit selling to someone who is willing to buy it with his huge accessories bundle).

Metro reimburses dealers for the promotions (assuming no fraud). From my own experience a number of years back, dealers make slim to no margins on the phones (after taking into account reimbursements from Metro for promotions). Dealers get commissions from activating the new line, add-ons, and good to huge margins on accessories.

upfront $$ loss per phone sold.
First month commission per line is 60% times plan. next 5 months commission is 35% times plan.
Late payments are subject to no commission paid by tmobile to dealer.
Devices swaps or port out after buying iphones or any phone is subject to a huge loss too since tmobile will not reimburse dealer the upfront capital invested to obtain phones, and sell at a discount. we buy phones at a higher price than customers pay for.

In a perfect world that you stay with metro by tmobile for 6 months and pay bill on time, the store will make
(.60 x 25) + [(.35 x25)]5 = 15+43.75= 58.75-18.50 = $40.25 per phone in 6 months. pathetic margins

The chance that the above scenario happens is very rare.

Ah hmm probably technically a loss but they get a reimbursement later so it might not remain a loss after the rebate clears, acting basically an interest free loan in some ways for tmobile.

edit: read the the response before this -- okay that is really shady then since most people I think won't lock in for 6 months
