They are getting better with certain items with the Amazon Transparency program. It's the sticker with the funky looking blue colored T. Samsung has these tags as I learned recently. But appears SanDisk (WD), isn't doing that yet. B&H is my favorite store to buy items that are frequently counterfeited because as far as I know they do not have any sort of third party merchant system.
Yup, that's why I'm wondering if something is being lost in translation as to why Viofo support is saying to get the Sandisk Extreme card on their support site (and specific to this SD). I'm not trying to be mean, but their English was not the greatest, and I had both pre-purchase and post-purchase technical issues I had to work through them with.
These would actually be better. You would want as fast write speeds as feasible because who likes waiting for that to copy over. Also since you're storing vs constantly writing, endurance isn't as critical. ie in most usecases reads would far exceed writes.
Compare this to a camera constantly recording which won't max out the cards write speed capabilities (at least at comparable price points), yet will subject the card to high write cycles. Here, writes would actually exceed reads. And endurance cards are better suited for the task.
I tried that route, went with B&H Photo to avoid Amazon's mixed inventory and counterfeits. I had to return (2) SanDisk Extreme 1TB SD micro cards . Another person had my same problem with 3 of there cards on Reddit. The return process was cumbersome with verification and mailing. While Amazon has issues, returns are a breeze, and these little cards are finicky.
Also, FWIW, my 1TB Sandisk Extreme card has passed read/write tests twice. No issues.
And thanks for the indirect upvote on why one should test out flash memory received. Apparently, I'm condescending when I tell people that plainly admit that "they don't want to learn new things." (paraphrasing)

So, the Sammy Pro Endurance cards are for when you have dash cams or home recording equipment that is constantly writing during operation. If you're just storing files like videos, photos, papers, podcasts, music, you can use normal cards.
The Samsung non-endurance cards will work just fine for your needs if you're playing back videos and stuff like that.
FWIW - my Samsung Pro Endurance card from Amazon arrived today and it's going through tests.
My Sandisk Extreme 1 TB card from Amazon has checked out okay. (big brother from the deal this thread references)
Keep in mind, you'll likely be limited to how fast that Steam Deck can actually write the card (e.g. the adapter/hardware they are using) versus how fast the card can write. That being said, I honestly don't know the hardware Steam is using for the card reader/writer, so I could be completely off.
Think of it like having a Ferrari engine in a car rate limited to 70 mph.
Thanks.

I have actually interacted with the Viofo support team pre-purchase to inquire what the schtick was about Sandisk versus Samsung microSD cards... and they replied back with a non-answer answer that, (Paraphrasing) "we found that Sandisk works better for our equipment." No expansion upon a technical answer and much more broken English.
I did require the replacement of one of the rear camera cables that I also bought (they use a proprietary connection that looks like Mini-USB but is not mini-USB), and their initial question was, "Are you using Sandisk or Samsung SD card?" Again, very broken English. I was using a Samsung endurance card, and I tried with a 32 GB Sandisk card that allegedly would work with their device... same results. So, they sent me another cable, and everything worked.
(So, the issue with the rear camera cable was that I ordered like the 6 m cable and they sent the 8 m cable... ok, so I got a slightly longer and more expensive one free... except the 8m cable was so long that it was not powering up my rear camera and was causing the front unit to act funny. The included rear camera cable in the box worked fine. After troubleshooting with Viofo support, they wanted to send me another 8m cable since the 6m was OOS. Well, I told them I was going to wait for the 6 m cable so that I wouldnt have to go through this again, and then suddenly, they found the 6 m cable. The whole time the website showed both cables being in stock).
