I would use an endurance card. I have one from Samsung and it has held up well. I'm not sure if this SanDisk is rated for continuous write. I've used normal memory cards and they generally end up corrupting after years of use.

Absolutely, but out of principle I don't support Amazon for this shady practice.

Then maybe don't post in an Amazon deal thread?

Thus far, we have people that are not commenting on the merits of the deal, but rather they read somewhere once that they might get a counterfeit from Amazon and therefore, they want us to go to this other website to buy it from.

Meanwhile, I did purchase this card from Amazon this Black Friday (the 1 TB version) and have told people how to aid in detecting counterfeit cards, as well as, verifying the product that they bought actually works to its full capacity, and I get a response, "I don't want to learn new things".

Boggles my mind.

Unless you do 4K video recording or bust photography, you don't need anything this fast.

I got a few normal 128GB microSD free from Microcenter, in fact I go get another one today.

Completely concur. High specs turn into a p******* contest if you're not actually using them.

I suppose the only benefit of buying highly spec'ed stuff now and if you use the memory until it dies, is that you want something that has a fast read speed otherwise you'll be waiting for eternity transferring data off of the card down the road.

Bought this for Viofo A139 Pro dashcam per Viofo's recommendation. I'm not sure either why Viofo recommends this card and not the Samsung Pro Endurance. That's the card my son uses for his A139 (non Pro version). No issues.
BLUF - I would not be surprised if Viofo is getting a kickback from Sandisk or special pricing on their Viofo memory cards (since Viofo has no fab plant) from Sandisk in order to encourage people to buy Sandisk cards. I have no proof of this, but their tech support is helpless at times.

I have actually interacted with the Viofo support team pre-purchase to inquire what the schtick was about Sandisk versus Samsung microSD cards... and they replied back with a non-answer answer that, (Paraphrasing) "we found that Sandisk works better for our equipment." No expansion upon a technical answer and much more broken English.

I did require the replacement of one of the rear camera cables that I also bought (they use a proprietary connection that looks like Mini-USB but is not mini-USB), and their initial question was, "Are you using Sandisk or Samsung SD card?" Again, very broken English. I was using a Samsung endurance card, and I tried with a 32 GB Sandisk card that allegedly would work with their device... same results. So, they sent me another cable, and everything worked.

(So, the issue with the rear camera cable was that I ordered like the 6 m cable and they sent the 8 m cable... ok, so I got a slightly longer and more expensive one free... except the 8m cable was so long that it was not powering up my rear camera and was causing the front unit to act funny. The included rear camera cable in the box worked fine. After troubleshooting with Viofo support, they wanted to send me another 8m cable since the 6m was OOS. Well, I told them I was going to wait for the 6 m cable so that I wouldnt have to go through this again, and then suddenly, they found the 6 m cable. The whole time the website showed both cables being in stock).

As a photographer of 20 years and a microsd phone user, I would recommend the Samsung microSD 10 times out of 10. I don't know why I've had regular failures of SanDisk SD, USB flash drives, and microSD memory after medium use. Nearly always within that 5 year warranty(5 failures so far), but I'd rather not risk my data or have to warranty my cards regularly. Samsung cards have not failed on me so far, hoping it stays that way. Just some real world experience.

Fair enough. Though, I wouldn't go into a B&H deal thread and then dig my heals in about how they're not reputable unless I had a legit negative experience with B&H and I was doing a PSA.

Now yes, counterfeit chips have snuck into the Amazon supply chain, but I have yet to read too many reports here on SD where our members actually received them. I've been here a bit of time, but I don't monitor everything thread that closely.

Feel free to consider my posts abrasive, but put me up against a poster that plainly stated that they don't want to have to learn how to use new tools, and that I'm not buying from a reputable vendor and I run a risk of receiving a counterfeit chip? Yeah, that's one step too far. At that point, posters are just thread crapping b/c they have a personal animus or vendetta against Amazon. That's fine and their right to have it, but don't clog up threads with your politics. (Understand, I'm like poster emeritus from the Podium)

I hope you show as much passion and energy for your family and friends as you do about memory card deals. (I'm not saying you don't, just hoping that you do because you have very intense feelings over something 99% of the world wouldn't give a second thought to). It's Thanksgiving weekend, go hang out with your loved ones and don't waste your energy on internet strangers.

Gotcha... Naw, I'm not terribly wound up. Smilie

I fly Thursday, internationally with family, and hence the reason I'm revisiting and buying more memory cards. Trying to be helpful here since there are a lot of counterfeit memory cards across the board (not just limited to Amazon).

I have had a Sandisk Endurance card die in a dashcam (Vantrue N4) within the 1 year warranty period. Whereas my Samsung Endurance cards have worked flawlessly over multiple years in other dashcams (Viofo). Since I have also had similar success for Samsung cards in my phones across years, personally I'm sticking with Samsung cards despite having been briefly enticed by this deal.

And I have no issue ordering cards from Amazon as I know how to spend a few minutes checking for counterfeits.

Another unsolicited opinion from an internet stranger. YMMV

I'm running the Samsung Pro Endurance in my Viofo without issue. I'm not sure what Viofo is thinking behind Samsung's line.

I will say the SanDisk grey line in the bottom right, I've 100% corrupted those cards in my first dash cam because they couldn't handle that level of wear on the writing. I fully admit I was using it in an application it was not designed for.

Viofo recommending this card is weird to me, because even directly from Western Digital's spec page, it says:
https://www.westerndigital.com/pr...256G-AN6MA

Tested and certified to work seamlessly with Chromebooks
Up to 120MB/s transfer speeds let you move photos and files fast
Class 10 for Full HD video playback – watch right from the card
Water-proof, temperature proof, X-ray proof, magnet proof, shock proof

Nowhere does it say it's designed for continuous write.

Whereas look at Samsung's Pro Endurance page.
https://semiconductor.samsung.com...endurance/

Extreme endurance for monitoring devices
Take the worry out of always-on recording. Engineered to deliver longest lasting performance, the Samsung PRO Endurance is a perfect fit for CCTV, dash cams, and body cams. Capture your crucial moments in high-resolution, even in harsh conditions.

It's plain and apparent.

I'm glad to hear that you're using the Samsung Pro Endurance microsd card with your Viofo without issue because I ignored their "not recommended" list and bought it for my Viofo A139 Pro dash cam.

Anyone who buys microsd cards should test them to make sure they are not fake regardless where they come from. Find a suitable tool that you can learn to live with and then test every single card you ever buy. It's free and it's easy and it mitigates the "real" risk which is losing your precious data because you failed to check. Anyone who is against this or calls it too much work is only kidding themselves if they believe that by paying a little bit more or buying from a certain url means their data is more likely to be protected. It's 2023 not 2003 and this is SD, it's all about learning and evolving so you can take advantage of what's out there. Buying sd cards from amazon comes with very little risk and no one should be buying into the idea that there are a plethora of counterfeit cards infecting the amazon inventories. They have a liberal return policy and we have a free, easy method that can check 100%. anyone who records videos or takes picture onto a microsd card that you didn't check first is the one taking the big risk. Cards fail not just because they are fake, check your card.

Cool, specifically I have the:
VIOFO A129 Pro Duo Ultra 4K Front + Full HD 1080P Rear Dual Channel Wi-Fi GPS Dash Camera

And it's paired with:
Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB 100MB/s (U1) MicroSDXC Memory Card with Adapter (MB-MJ128GA/AM)

This was what was available during June 2020:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B984HJ5

Though, I ordered a replacement the current model 256 GB Samsung PRO endurance as it's on sale for Cyber Monday at $20.
