No, they are contradictions of terms.

I've not ever seen a full grain leather dress belt before (though that doesn't mean they don't exist). Shiny and smooth belts have plastic bonded to "genuine leather", which is a garbage leather and not used for the actual appearance.

Top grain is just that, the top layer of cowhide, with some layers beneath cut out (to be used for genuine leather junk). Full grain is the entire cowhide, which is thick and can be unsuitable for things like a dress belt.

This belt is bonded plastic to what I assume is "genuine leather"; the lowest grade of leather that simply acts as the physical belt while the plastic is the veneer applied to the surfaces.

Plastic belts wear out quickly, which is why you want to get them for cheap and replace them often.

This information is 100% incorrect

Full grain = natural leather that includes the top most layer which will show all the natural grain. It's premium because natural grain will show all skin defects.

Top Grain = natural leather that has the top most layer removed to eliminate the defects present in the natural grain.

Bonded Leather = fake leather.....or "Vegan Leather" as Ellon likes to call it.....that has leather particles bonded on the bottom layer in addition

Top Grain leather can be smooth or still show grain depending on how much of the natural grain is removed.

These belts aren't bonded leather like you claim, it's 100% solid leather

Looks like they are "genuine leather". That's the lower part of the cowhide that's looser grain. I'd be most concerned with the plastic coating on top, which is bound to wear off over time. This is better than "composite leather" but I'd still pay the $20-$25 for a full grain leather police belt from eBay. I used to go through a cheap belt every 6 months. I bought a full grain leather 10 years ago and I'm still wearing it today.

Police belts have plastic coating on top too.... since they are sealed grain

The reason why police belts are so stiff if because they are full gain.

I have these belts....4-5 years in minimal wear from daily used including IWB holster use.

That might be, but then why would they advertise them as junk "genuine leather"? If I'm selling a Porsche, I wouldn't advertise it as a Kia.

Not sure why it says the Griffin belt is unavailable, I just ordered one.

Well it looks like it actually is OOS now. Hopefully mine doesn't get cancelled.

It's advertised as "leather" in the description. Some social influencer replied in the Q&A....if you think those min. wage workers know anything about leather, you would be sadly mistaken.

You're right, my belt is actually just top grain & "USPS approved".. possibly corrected by being buffed, no coatings. It's made by Boston Leather, & made in the USA. I would only buy belts like it going forward rather than "genuine leather" coated belts like the ones in this deal. I wouldn't buy a belt with any stitching on it like this. My guess is it is two pieces of genuine leather (lower, looser grain) stitched together to be thick enough and then coated on top. My belt is just a solid piece of top grain leather with two metal snaps that keep the leather loop & metal buckle in place.

How is the leather quality compared to the cheap ones on Ebay, and an OG Coach belt??
Similar or inferior.

Your belt is guaranteed to have top coating as well. Bet when you drop some water on it, it will pool up on the belt rather than soak immediately in.

The stitching on the Fossil belt is purely decorational. It's a solid single piece of leather. I owned that belt of +4 years and use it daily.

Ugggh -- just got my order and got to say not impressedl. I literally wrapped it around my waste and the part that inserts into the buckle wrinkled permanently after just one try. The other issue is the belt is SOOOOOOO thick it will not fit any dress pants that I have. Business casual yes and jeans yes but nothing else. Even at this price point going to see what it takes to send it back yuck...
