This has pan and tilt features though; allowing you auto track moving objects/people.
However the Wyze Cam v3 that you are referring to does have free Cam Plus Lite[wyze.com] support. (Basically free AI person detection). The Wyze Cam Pan v3 does not ergo it's debatable what is the better deal; I guess it depends on what your needs are. I would agree with you though that the V3 2 pack for $35 is the better bargain overall.
Incidentally, Tinycam Pro[amazon.com] supports LAN live view monitoring for most Wyze Cameras. This means you can make Wyze cameras into IP LAN cameras that don't need access to internet. (You will need internet access initially though to register/activate the cams via the Wyze app and Tinycam Pro)
Wyze Bridge[github.com] will also make these camera compatible with NVRs but my preferred method for live LAN viewing is using Tinycam on an old Firestick; works out well for me.
EDIT
I now realize that you were referring to V2 pan and not the V3 deal for $35 that has no pan or tilt ; my mistake and disregard all that crap lol. At least the Tinycam info could prove useful though...
Bought one recently as well - the panning and tracking is ridiculously cool but the actual results are not what many might think. Like if someone if walking in front of your house, the camera will begin tracking and move a little, stop, and move again (rinse and repeat). So lots of jerky, blurry footage that actually hurts the quality of footage massively.
The tracking is best thought of as a way to reposition the camera on the fly automatically for a target, and hope they don't move too fast/too much. Ideally an area that isn't too high traffic. When pointed outwards to my road the camera would constantly scan back and forth depending on sensitivity settings like a golden retriever (squirrel!) at anything that moved and hold for some time in last known position, taking the camera away momentarily from where I really need it to be watching.
YMMV, but IMO this is a niche security camera product. Amazing for price for the panning/tracking. Tons of features are hidden behind subscription paywall, be advised.
It's not a bad deal, it's just not as good as the "2 for $35 old model sale" you found last year. I have 2 of the v2 models and they are good, but the v3 offers a few more features: IP65 weather resistant, useable outdoors, 180 degree tilt.
Also, that v2 price was last year, not right now. Currently the lowest I could find for v2 is around $40-43 each (outside of shady shops).

The V3 Pans seems to be an excellent deal at $25. The only thing that is preventing me from buying is the lack of free Cam Plus Lite[wyze.com] support. You are going to get a lot of alerts because of leaves blowing, trees moving, shadows ECT. Person detection makes a huge difference and mitigates most false alerts. Free person detection with 24 hour MicroSD recording is the combo that works best for me.
I purchased 2 sets of V3 cams from the Home Depot deal for $70 and they have been excellent. The cams work well velcro taped to the inside of windows and have superb night vision even through glass. (Just deactivate IR lights)
I 24 hour live view the V3s via Tinycam Pro on an old 1080p Firestick connected to a $20 used/Amazon Warehouse Cocar security monitor[amazon.com]. The setup has been working great for months now.
So you're using v3 cams for 24x7 recording without subscription? Need more details please.

Yes, V3 cams support 24/7 recording via installed MicroSD cards; you just need to enable/choose Continuous in the Advanced Settings section of the Wyze App.
V3s also support free person detection and 12 second event cloud recording via Cam Plus Lite[wyze.com]. Don't confuse the Pan V3 with the standard V3 as the Pan V3 does not support Cam Plus Lite.
A good combo that works for me is 24/7 recording on a 128GB MicroSD with Person Detection via Cam Plus Lite. I have four V3s and three V2s live streaming via Tinycam Pro on an old 1080p Firestick that have been working great for months now.
You can get Tinycam Pro[amazon.com] for free by spending the free digital points that you earn when choosing slow shipping if you have Amazon Prime; that's what I did. IMO Tinycam Pro is a must for Wyze cameras as it makes them so much more useful.
The usb cable plug ends are different between the lamp socket and the pan v3. The v3 has a 90 where the lamp socket is straight with an odd shape at the end to plug in the USB to make a good seal. Without the 90 you can't mount the v3 flush. I didn't go any further to see if it would power on/work with the lamp socket or if it would be worth getting a different cable...
I have one and I love it, tracks you like a boss. If you want to intimidate a potential thief this is the one to get, even my landscaping guy is a little intimidated by it. I can pan all the way to my back deck, the whole side of the house and a good chunk of the front yard of my house on the side it is on.
I placed an order for 2 before looking at the specs.
Noticed that the port is micro usb & cancelled the order immediately.
I cannot bring myself to support a product (irrespective of how good the primary function is) with micro USB.
It's almost 2024, we don't have to continue to suffer with Jurassic era tech.
Why does it bring micro usb matter? I would understand if you had to plug it in to charge but the cable is inserted 24/7. You're not unplugging this. 🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️🤦 ♂️

It's a bad deal. wyze cam v2 - 2 pack were sold for $35 last year.
EVERYTHING is a bad deal compared to last year - inflation and/or corporate greed has led to price increases across the board for nearly everything you purchase.

thanks, I'll probably upgrade my old Pan, I've been paying for cloud but will go local card for non essential monitor. I like to get regular new features and FW on these. Google Home App makes a good cam feed for these.
