I contacted BB months ago asking about the difference and the person told me these are basically older stock, but they're all made with the same materials in the same place.

Not sure that person knew what they were talking about as others have mentioned likely differences.

I did end up buying the 12 inch standard though and it's nice. I will say, if you're on the heavier side (I'm ~200lbs), I'd go for the firmer 10 inch. I wish I had. This mattress does sink in after a few months.

I think from my research that's just natural settling in, but it made it less comfortable for me. The firmer one would be better for slightly heavier folks I'm betting.

Anyway, for $200 I would say this is a pretty dang good deal based on my experience with the standard.

I got my 10" firm a few days ago, but I'll preface this by saying that I'm no bed expert.

The mattress I HAD was a medium, and after 7-8 years it had become unbearable. A couple springs were poking up, and it was sinking in certain areas.

This firm is exactly what I needed (back/stomach sleeper).

It's a lot firmer than what I expected from a bed in a box. The top 1" layer of foam is soft, but the mattress has very little give overall. To me, it's a good compromise between my previous medium mattress and sleeping on a hardwood floor. I've seen it described as a 6-7/10 firmness - like I said, I'm not an expert, but I'd probably put it at a 7-8/10. I'm not sinking into it at all.

It inflates in about 10 seconds once fully unwrapped. No real off gassing or fumes to speak of, only a slight smell. It's one sided. I've seen people complain about the edges on similar models, but the edge support on the firm feel about as good as my prior spring mattress. It inflated to the full 10", if not slightly more.

I'm just now waking up on day 4 and I'm very comfortable lying here.

Obviously I can't speak for how well it will hold up, but I'm happy with my purchase for now.

The biggest difference seems to be the layers in the mattress. Going by the images on walmart.com and the BB website:
Standard 12":
https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/...nBg=FFFFFF

Signature 12":
https://res.cloudinary.com/helixs...a=BAAAROBs

So the signature has 5 layers vs 3 on the standard. the 14" standard seems to have 4 layers (2" foam base layer).

We have a spartan and it is a great mattress. If we could buy again we prob would have gone with a firm over a medium.

Got the 12" and it's like a marshmallow. It's going back. I'm kind of afraid to order the 10" because I think it might still be too soft.

I ordered the 10" firm.

I just received the mattress and slept on it one night.
The mattress is supposed to be firm. It is firm in the sense there is no padding on the surface, but there is no support as the springs depress easily and you are not sleeping on a flat surface.
My back started to hurt right away.
The mattress is easy to return, Walmart has a return option and just requesting a return online from your order, there is a button.
And they scheduled a pickup.

I ordered a queen 10" for my daughter to replace her old 8" memory foam mattress that I had gotten from Aldi a few years ago. I also ordered two Twin XL 10" for our adjustable king bed. It is replacing our 12" Costco sleep innovation mattress from 2007. I just tried on the twin xl and it seems to have a little fold where the adjustable bed slopes up. Hopefully this is ok. I know this is not pure foam but hybrid. So hopefully it is still ok to use with adjustable beds. We have been using the foam mattress from Costco but figured we would change it since it is so old. Nothing is wrong with that mattress though.

How does your daughter like the queen?

I felt exactly same. Mine is also going back.

Let me know if you find a 'real firm' mattress.

Can you tell us how the return went?

Did you return yours yet? If so, how was the process? There were many question marks about returning a mattress-in-a-box to Walmart. Thanks!

Piece of cake. You just fill in a short form online. And I wrapped it back up with plastic wrap it came in with some tape. I left it in my driveway against the garage.

So the expanded mattress was just picked up at your home/from your driveway no questions asked?

Thanks and repped. As far as I know yours is the first account to actually confirm Walmart's return policy in real life.

There were a few others I believe who returned them and reported that it was picked up from their homes.

Good to know, I had no idea. This question comes up in every Walmart deal for a boxed mattress and never seems to get answered.

Question to those who got the 14" plush version of this: is it really on the plush side or more like a medium? I'm a side sleeper and our current mattress gives me shoulder and neck pain because it is too firm. Thanks in advance!
