This is supported by https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/ if you want some addition features in the firmware.

I wish 802.11ax routers would drop in price though. You can get whole laptops for around this price point.
That is an error…obviously.

I've had this router for 6 months. Stepped up from a Netgear R8000 which got fried during a lightning storm. Noticeably better range and throughput with this router. The only caveat for me is that after a few days of uptime, devices start dropping off the network and reconnecting. I tried changing a bunch of settings on the router without success. I finally ended up plugging it into a digital timer programmed to do a power cycle twice a week and that has solved 99% of the disconnects. I am quite pleased with this router other than that.
the router software doesn't have a scheduled restart feature?

Is this overkill for someone who just needs reliable connection for work from home with range for a 2,000 sq ft, 2 story + basement, house (we have devices on all 3 levels)? The kids do "game" if you can even call it that lol but really it's just roblox on the iPads or Nintendo switch, nothing serious on the computers or anything like that. Need to upgrade from our 2015 modem/router combo that drops the connection way too often these days and is probably a significant security risk with its age.

this router is a great choice for your use-case - multiple devices, large range, good signal through some walls/obstructions
