You are Incorrect with the first order
Wrong, which makes you incorrect. In my example there was a $10 off coupon. When the order shipped two weeks later, the $10 coupon was gone. Many Amazon products have click-the-coupon and then invite you to save 5-15% more through Subscribe & Save. If they eliminate the coupon before the order ships, guess what happens.

This is for the first order only. All subsequent orders are subject to market price, (Which is maddening, because you don't know what market price is until it's time to lock in the order - and is the main reason that I cancel subsequent subscriptions.)
And I have never experienced a price increase due to coupon removal or had an order canceled because of coupon removal.
I have experienced interminable delays in shipping on a few items. Literally months go by with the order unfulfilled for no apparent reason. Ultimately, I have canceled such orders.
Overall, I'm pleased with the S&S feature. It ain't perfect, but it has saved me a ton of money over the years.
BTW, I keep track of all of my S&S orders and have the records to prove it!

EDIT: Notwithstanding my experience, I checked the Amazon S&S webpage and was unpleasantly surprised to see that the language for processing orders has changed. Before, the webpage specifically included language saying that the buyer would not pay any more than the initial purchase price. Now, the webpage says: "In advance of each delivery, we will send you a reminder email showing the item price and any applicable discount for your upcoming delivery. The price of the item may decrease or increase from delivery to delivery, depending on the Amazon.com price of the item at the time we process your order."
I checked my orders this month that just executed yesterday, none of the original purchase prices had increased and one of the prices had decreased. (None of my previous month's purchases were affected, I had previously reconciled them.)
So, I'm not sure what is going on with Amazon S&S at this point. If there has been a change in policy, I haven't been affected yet. But I'll keep a close watch.
