Get HD650/HD6XX if you like bass. HD600 have less bass than both model. However, the sound is more netural and cleaner on HD600.
These don't have too much bass, but decent with an amp. These are some of the best headphones for music tho very accurate sound. After this it is so much diminishing returns.
These are wonderful headphones but quite light in the low end - in other words, do not expect any significant bass. HD 650 is better, but a closed design is required for good bass punch. Also, they have -zero- ambient noise isolation. It's like being open air. I tried to use them on a flight once and literally heard nothing over the engines.

How do these compare to HiFiMan Sundaras? Worth investing in both? Used for gaming and music.

How are these for gaming? Is there a better alternative in the $250 price range?

Hands down the best for Gaming are the Audeze Maxwell Wireless… but u can also go with Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless https://a.co/d/4TY8vA4 for $249 … for gaming

Thanks! Picked one up finally and glad I waited. It had been on Amazon for $309 for the past week or so and I thought that it might dip below $250 eventually and it finally did. This will complement my HD6XX (aka HD650 from Drop), HD580 Precision quite well.

I've used these for gaming, music, and work for the last 8 years. For only gaming I'm sure you can find better as these don't have a built in mic and you'll need a DAC to get the most out of them. They also have a completely open ear design so there is great presence but exactly zero noise cancelling. I can be playing at a high volume and still easily hear my wife calling across the house. These do not travel well for this reason.
That said I love these and don't plan on ever replacing them. I like having the mic on my desktop and I also like being able to hear my surroundings. I love the sound and presence of these headphones, especially for music. When I bought them they were much more expensive but I would do it again in a heartbeat. So yeah I'd strongly recommend if the downsides don't bother you and you're also a big music listener.

Edit: I forgot to mention how comfortable they are. You can wear them for hours and forget they're on.

Great sale on drop.com if you want them. HD58x are amazing as well. In fact, I like them more.

Planars and dynamic drivers are good at different things. Planars will not have as natural a timbre like dynamic drivers or the slam & impact, but it will be easier to EQ. Unlike HD600, Sundaras should be able to achieve better bass since they extend better.

On the other hand:
HD600 is legendary for its midrange. Sennheiser is also legendary for their great QC. There are people who still use their HD600s after 2 decades or more. Hifiman QC is not as reliable.
