The target hack to get this version for $211 is what I went with. Honestly not enough difference between the 9th and 10th gen to be worth the extra $100
Agreed. Plus you get to keep the home button which some folks (especially seniors) prefer.
The one thing that is nice though on the 10th gen is that landscape front faceing camera. It's centered on the long side of the ipad so you don't cover it with your hand when holding the ipad in landscape mode.
Obvious but brilliant feature that I"m sure will be standard in 2024 but only available on the 10th gen ipad in 2023≥

Apple just redesigned the base iPad with the 2022 model and it looks like an Air. Expect it to remain the same design for a the next 3 or 4 years.
They will update the Air and Pro models long before they do another base redesign.
I bought one of these on Costco.com Black Friday but I'm going to stop by the store tomorrow and see if I can buy one in person to save the $5 on shipping and more importantly, get the 5% cashback using Chase Freedom for the Q4 rotating categories (an additional $11.50 in savings). Costco isn't far from my house and I need to go there anyway.

There's only so much redesigning that can change with tablets at this point. I think the fingerprint reader in the power button and maybe placement of the front camera are the only things that change at this point, besides the usual internal specs bumps.
The entry-level iPad is the gateway drug into the Apple ecosystem. I was a diehard Android and Windows user since the I can remember, but when I was gifted an iPad 5 many years ago, I eventually replaced it with a 7, then a Pro. I still use Android and Windows, but the allure of the Apple ecosystem is strong. No Android or Windows tablet can compete in the tablet segment, because of the app development.
Just two more years? LOL. I'm still running a 32GB 6th gen from 2018 and it's still great. This 9th gen should be effective well beyond 2027.
I'm still on iPad Air from like 2013 lol. I only want to upgrade at some point so I can use Apple Pencil. We currently only use to read books and a white noise machine haha. It is somewhat sluggish but it does the job.
Never had an ipad but what is the appeal of these if say you already have an iphone and say a dell laptop and a chromebook. I can use the chromebook to view things and stream so the ipad is just easier to sit with on a couch?
Also what do people put in their ipad where 64gb isn't enough space? Are you downloading movies or something? I thought movies you watch from streaming sites like netflix are all stream and not downloadable?
I am amused, and a little annoyed, by the comments mentioning 'dated design', and 'stuck with Lightning'. It is a rectangular slab of metal with a flat, featureless front. What 'design' innovation do you expect? Make it circular? Oval? Some people are sooo stupid! And, there is nothing wrong with the Lightning connector. It is just as fast as the USB-C connector on the iPad 10, and there are thousands of accessories for it. Carrying one more cord to charge it isn't going to hurt anyone. There isn't one damn thing the iPad 10 can do that the iPad 9 cannot. Get real folks, and stop whining about stupid stuff.
16gb iPad Air 2 from 2014 checking in - a bit slow when surfing, but streams Netflix just fine. Not bad for a 9-year old entry level model. I concur - this model will continue to do just fine for many for years to come.
same here. 16GB I bought for $349 on Blackfriday 2014. But after 9 years, battery won't last more than half day

Is that deal still live?
