The S970H has eARC, HDMI 2.1, 8K, the aforementioned HDR10+, and some other goodies. You'll have to figure out if they're worth it to you. They wouldn't be to me, but then again, I held on to the same AVR for 15 years.
Wait... The link above states that eARC is available on the Yamaha via firmware update if you haven't done that already. Also note that the S970H has the basic room correction software (MultEQ) while your AVR has one level up from basic (YPAO R.S.C). Given those two important things, I'd say it's not worth upgrading. Again, that's me, and I'm cheap.
Also, pick up a minimum four input universal remote by GE or Philips, both made by Jasco. You may need to play with codes. I.e Yamaha, one input with one code to power on using up channel button. Second input for powering off using the actual power button.
On average I've paid $29 shipped per receiver and none of the 10 from circa 2001 have been lemons. Chances are they'll outlast a lot of the the modern receivers, what with the way the audio industry has been headed these last decades (soundbars/listening from phone speakers), cost cutting has been the name of the game for the lower priced receivers.
Here is the comparable chart for reference.
