What in the world region does that make Win10 run faster? The real way is to run an LTSC or custom tiny build.
has something to do with laws/licensing I think, when you set it to world it skips installing all the bloatware.

I am a little tight on budget and this laptop seems to hit the spot except for the 8gig of ram. Will this be enough for a student?
And does anyone know if the zenbook 14 at walmart with ryzen processor will ever go on sale?

Don't buy this. 18 months ago these 8GB OLED Zenbooks were a decent deal at $500 but there's better options today. Our 12th gen failed in 10 months and the body was separating as well. It ran hot and loud even playing Roblox.

Don't think it's a Zenbook so the build quality is good, it's crap build quality.

8gb ram sucks!!! Why does Asus do this or for that matter why does any Windows laptop brand just offer 8GB with no upgradability option Frown
It's called planned obsolescence

I'm a little baffled by all the negative comments for a machine priced at $500. If you're on a budget, it's hard to find a better deal for a laptop with these specs.
I have this laptop. I looked at a dozen or so at a local computer shop and this one stood out for the screen quality. I was dubious about the glossy screen but it lights up very bright and works well in situations that my work laptop would not be useable in. If you do any kind of graphics work, the wide color gamut is a bonus.
I had an HP Envy x360 that I really liked until the hinge broke after a couple years of normal use. Now it's going to take HP 2 months to fix. I'm not going to spend another $1000 for something and picked up this laptop used for $400.
It has far surpassed my expectations.
It feels well built to me and the excellent speakers were a surprise. The touchpad is great and also doubles as a number pad which is a nice feature.
I'm a fairly heavy Chrome user with a dozen or so tabs open at a time and this machine has not hung on me so far. If you check the benchmarks for the CPU, you'll see it's no slouch.
I will probably put in a 1TB SSD at some point.
I wouldn't recommend it for heavy gaming or 4K video editing but I don't think you can find another machine out there that matches up to this one at that price.

Just personal experience: It's a gorgeous screen wrapped in a sub-par shell. Mine is constantly freezing to the point of being unusable despite multiple troubleshooting steps. Starting to believe it's a hardware issue - soldered RAM? Idk, can't test it can I? Soldered is fine until it isn't. The case edge is sharp, so it will potentially dig into your wrists depending on how you use it. The aluminum feels paper thin - this thing flexes quite a bit to the point I'm scared of breaking the beautiful OLED. The hinges are weak, so you can open it with one hand, but hold it at any sort of angle and the screen will likely conveniently adjust itself for you. The ASUS manufacturer software feels bloated (they all do, but this stuff feels particularly unhelpful). The power button light flashes rapidly in sleep mode - maybe this is a feature, but it looks broken.

Maybe these issues are fixed in recent iterations, but mine is less than 2yrs old. It feels like an unpolished machine that tried to compete with more established ultrabook thin and light brands and ended up closer to/potentially worse than Acer Swift 3. Also, to echo others, 8GB soldered is laughable in 2024 - this thing is on a bullet train to a landfill.

Is your review for the current machine or older one which you have since 2 years? If its for the older one then it's irrelevant. And for the problems that you have mentioned, every laptop manufacturer except Apple has all sorts of design/build/quality control issues.

Been this price several times past months

Did Best Buy have any real bargain this BF?
Not really. They expected people to fall for Black Friday price tricks, but consumers are becoming more aware.

I got the this deal, and so regret not getting the 16GB one for 799. For 699 in current deal, the 16GB one is a steal. FYI, for the 8GB RAM, I need to reinstall the Windows 10 with only essential driver and apply World region when setting up, to get it work as smooth as it can get. Moreover, the H chip behaves the same as the U chip with only 8GB of RAM.
Does 8gb of RAM cost $200? Wtf...
