FYI, "Game Pass Core" is more or less the new name for "Xbox Live Gold".

From what I understand you can buy now and just wait until your ultimate expires and then put your 3 years in and convert.

I'd personally wait until getting close to expiration, it's usually pretty easy to find deals like this.

Exactly, the 3:2 conversion rate only happens when upgrading from Core to Ultimate.

You can still redeem Core codes on an existing Ultimate sub at a lower conversion rate.12 months Core would turn into 4 months GPU, so ~$11 per month (compared to $17 monthly price).

People talking about codes getting stolen are confusing this deal with Eneba and CDKeys, which are reseller sites for codes. Target is nothing like those busineeses. There is almost no risk in holding onto codes bought from Target or other similar huge retailers.

I wouldn't recommend getting Game Pass Ultimate unless you get a Xbox console. It's simply not worth it only for the cloud gaming part. There are better cloud gaming services, many people say Geforce Now is the best.

I have a target gift card. Can I use that as a valid payment type to buy this Xbox gift card? I wasn't too sure if gift cards can be used to buy other gift cards

Sounds good. I am not concerned about gaming on the mac anyway so it was just a general question Smilie I am purposely moving away from my 12700k + 3080 Ti build for this haha. I have consoles

this worked for me! i didn't realize that the date actually changed to Dec 2025 when i did this, so i thought it didn't work. basically, i thought it moved me out 14 days, with a renewal in Dec of 2023 because I did it wrong. as such, i bought the eneba 1-month GPU for $1.05
these instructions worked perfectly.

I wish Macs were good option for gaming, the Apple M chips are certainly powerful enough. Like you I prefer to play on consoles these days despite growing up on PC gaming. Gaming on PC got too expensive and irritating for my tastes.
