There was an entire HP laptop with a 4090 in it for $1900 in the past couple days .. they're straight trippin charging $2k for a mobile 4090/dock combo 🤣

Different use case. If you have multiple laptop in the household, today or in the future, you will always have this GPU and dock to use. This makes laptop more like a desktop where you can upgrade your laptop and still keep the GPU.

Out of stock? People are insane. I keep wondering when one of the mini-pc companies will start putting mobile gpu chips up for LEGIT pricing and squash this rubbish kind of deals being offered for EGPU's... pricing these at full laptop prices is straight ridiculous!

Honestly if you're lucky and have the funds to get any form of this graphics card at that price is kind of a steal. In China they're literally stripping the boards out and taking out the chips to put into production for their AI accelerators to be used in different kinds of technology. The reason for the ban is because of military purposes that in essence it could be used for. So don't be surprised if they're not in stock in many places for any less.

I think the entire point is to not have to take your desktop with you, or to be able to if you want to because it will fit in a backpack.

As soon as there are working TB5 eGPUs, all laptops will suck, and all desktops will suck.
