I honestly don't think there's any differences between the brands, or I just couldn't tell. Maybe because I usually buy the not so futuristic models, meaning the technology is pretty much fully owned by all manufacturers, that the tech gaps among these models are small enough to be noticeable. I've owned monitors from Acer, Benq, lenovo, HP, Dell (from work).

My kid keeps bugging me for a new monitor with a minimum 120hz refresh rate. It seems that Forntite and other games needs this to work better or something along those lines, please enlighten me and if you can offer a good option to help Santa knock this off his darn list for yet another year lol. Not trying to ruin thread, as may get this monitor if acceptable for their needs.

The higher refresh rate on the monitor will do two things. The first is that it will make the game feel more responsive. You get updates on what's happening 120 times a second instead of 60 times a second, so you can react sooner. The second is that it will make the game feel smoother. If you've ever watched a movie made for 24 frames per second on a TV that upconverts it to 60 frames per second, then you've seen how this effect works.

For the first one, it'll be a pretty small difference in your son's gaming performance going from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. If he's hanging with the top 5-10% of players, then maybe the refresh rate is more important, but for most people the 8ms latency decrease isn't going to meaningfully impact their play.

For the second one, it will also be a small change. You can easily perceive the difference between 24 and 60 Hz, but 60 to 120 Hz is harder to see. Personally, I wouldn't pay $170 just to jump from 60 to 120 Hz. I bought this monitor to upgrade from 1080p to 1440p and add a second screen. The fact it supports a high frame rate is just a nice bonus.

Just bought 2 of these through Walmart on Black Friday and set them up in my home office/gaming station. Really happy so far with these as they were replacing some 6+ year old monitors that were not optimal. I use both with my computer and have my Xbox Series X connected into the HDMI on one of them as well. Works great for my casual gaming setup and any home office work I've done. Solid deal.

You can shop around for HDMI 1.4, 2.0 as well both fully capable of 1080p @ 120Hz. Just make sure the monitor also is compatible with VRR/FreeSync/GSync or youll get tears during slow downs. Don't forget about used market as well, plenty of gamers and familys offloading older monitors for new monitors for a fraction of the cost, win win for everyone just make sure to test then before handing over payment.

Picked up this monitor as it was a decent deal for a 1440p that supports 120Hz with VRR minimum.
I'm using it for work and casual console gaming. It surprisingly downsamples a 4K image and displays it as 1440p. Looks better then a native 1440p and the console believes its connected to a monitor via 4k @ 60Hz as well.

No noticeable tears with VRR enabled on console set for 1440p @ 120Hz. You will want to extend your viewing distance if this is your first 32" so factor that in if you have a smaller desk and plan to use for work or arcade stick, steering wheel. Multiple solutions for the poorly designed power adapter so that's not a deal breaker. The 650 variant of this does have the full featured stand with raise/lower, pivot 180* though if you plan to use this in portrait or you cab just purchase that stand seperately or any 100x100 VESA of your choice that hold this weight.
