They look AMAZING on a tree. You just want to make sure you get the right length for the size of your tree so you dont' have to space them out too much to make the animations too pixely.

Personally since it's the same price, I would get a longer string light: Twinkly - Smart Light String 600 LED RGB Generation II - Multi
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/twin...Id=6422789

My last advice is to not mix different generations and LED types. Getting a Generation II like above is what I have and I love it.

I bought the 600 RGB+W string yesterday for $165 from Amazon.
Is this the one that's now around $2xx? Or is it another seller?

It was $165 from a seller called GAMERCANDY. They sent me the RBG though instead of the RGB+W that I ordered.

Can't seem to find it now, do you have a link? Maybe they pulled out the listing lol. Probably for the better I would've bought 3 and be pissed if they were the older version.

Can someone explain what "strings and dots" means? Is this two separate strands with two separate styles grouped together in one pack?

Also, for these LED lights that everyone is going nuts over - hows the longevity? Are these a more expensive version of the lights where when one goes out, the whole string is ruined? So sick of buying and wasting so much plastic every year. Even storing in climate controlled areas on a wheel in a a plastic container, seems like lights only last 1 year max these days. At $100-200/string minimum buy-in, just wondering if these are just the rich person's version of the same old crap

Is this a reputable site? I'm thinking about returning the 600 led to my shady Amazon store and going with the 2 400s like you did.
I should hope so, it's a verified distributor. I found them by going directly to the twinkly website [twinkly.com] and clicking "find in store".

We have a 7ft live tree, would you guys think that 400 would be enough if i went with the RGB+W deal? Been seeing here that people recommend at least 600 for a 8-9 ft tree, but im also reading the more the merrier when it comes to these lights, but would 800 be overkill if i got 2 sets of the 400 count? But to confuse matters more, I've also been reading that the regular gen 2 RGB can come ''pretty' close to the warm white lights, can anyone attest to this? I dont need 100% perfect warm white if i can save 50 bucks...

Thoughts...
I own a 8x 600 light strings and 6x 400 light strings, all are RGB. I often modify or create my own patterns using what I consider to be close to warm white, although all of mine are outside.

If you're fine creating your own patterns or modifying colors in the app you'll be fine going RGB. If you want warm white without thinking about it, go RGBW.

If you want basic coverage you could probably live with 400 lights on a 7ft tree. If you want any recognizable patterns though, you'll want to at least double that. Personally I don't think 800 would be overkill by any means. Check out

There's two separate and different types of lights in one box. Normal Twinkly strings and Twinkly dots: https://twinkly.com/en-us/products/dots

As for longevity, they're much better than the cheep led lights. I've had some of my trees wrapped with them for more than a year. A squirrel chewed through the string completely a couple months back. I spliced them back together after I realized they weren't turning on. Every single light is still working after more than a year outside in the elements.

Can all lights be set to warm white or does it have to multi color?

You can set them all to one color, warm white or anything else, color patterns, solid color with random twinkles, whatever you want.

Yeah they pulled it. They sent gen 2 but I ordered RGB+W and they sent RGB, claiming a supplier error. I'll be sending it back in favor of the 400 led RGB+W for $116 deal. I'll just get two.

In my experience, most trees are three or four sections. They have two bundles pictured. Is that accurate? I would much rather replace my pre-wired incandescent lights and leave these permanently attached. Is that not possible with this kit?

No way. I have 1200 and probably need more for twinkly effect patterns to look right. 400 would be less than you'd expect for normal incandescent lights on a 7 ft free.

I have twinkly twinkly plus and twinkly pro. There's no way to get warm white by modifying color in the app with an rgb strand
