There are many deals available from different providers but if you only need a flash drive's worth of storage and don't want to pay a lot this isn't a bad deal. Of course these types of services are not guaranteed for your time only theirs.

just to be clear 'lifetime' is that of the business, not yours. so if its sold, merged, or folds game over!

Yep. Some things like OOMA work out as lifetime while others do not. I think this company has been around for 2 years or so.

I keep wanting to pull the trigger on these cloud deals but have not yet. Trying to guess which one is going to last at least another 5 years or more

Been using Filen for years, they're good. The big selling point is that it's end to end encrypted, so much more secure than pCloud, Google Drive, iCloud or Dropbox.

As someone else said, lifetime is the life of the company, but even if the company is only around 3 years this is still a good deal. Personally don't think the company will disappear anytime soon.

try it out for a day. you get 10gb free.
then refer a friend and get another 10gb free.
4 years ago, it was possible to use a bunch of referral codes and get up to 80gb.

I thought it was a good service and secure.
so i bought 500gb two black fridays ago for 69 euro which stacked on top of the 80gb.

it's end to end encrypted so i dont hear hashtag matching account deletion stories like some other services.

The same $200gb plan is for 1€ per month. So it will take 40 months or 3.3 years to break even at the life time cost. Paying it monthly might work better for some people.

True, although that estimate only holds true if the dollar remains a stronger currency over that time period.

It remained strong for the last 100 years, so I wouldn't bet against the dollar. Also as a thought exercise, $40 growing at 6% per year on average in an index fund and compounding annually still makes the monthly plan a better choice as if the company goes down, you are protected and also, if they slash their prices even further, it will work in your favor Smilie

If you calculate 17% inflation... you're only losing 11%! Great!

Are you kidding me? Inflation averaged 2% for the last 2 decades and index funds grew over 20% in the last few years. Inflation is also not 17% for the year, it's been going down month by month and also it's not permanent. Nice attempt to misled and oversimplify btw.

No. I watch PBS, listen to NPR and read the Economist. You should try it sometimes.

I do check in on them. Perhaps it's more concerning that you think they're telling the truth...
