I have one died within a year due to overheat. It was replaced under warranty though. I think the USBc version at the same price is a better deal as it would work with most new phones and laptops that do not have USB A. They are less prone to overheat too by the design.
I think it is the form factor issue.
at this point, I really think they are making them as small as possible so you can lose them more easily

I've 3 of these. Using for 2 years now. One is always connected with xbox and runs 24/7. So far didn't have any issue. But had a different samsung 32gb. That died only after using 7 to 8 times. So you can't never say for sure.

I have this from a similar deal last year. Tiny size which I thought was a pro is really a con coz its just way too small. It worries me that i might drop it accidentally not realizing it.

If you run it in a USB 2.0 port, it should also mitigate the heat issue.

Had some fail on my unraid server because of the heat

Do not buy these. They are awful. I have had several of these decide to disconnect on a regular basis for no reason in 5-10 minute intervals.

I've purchased maybe five of these (more like the 64 GB format because I'm cheap Stick Out Tongue and that's the only size I need ) which have worked well for me with one notable exception.

For some reason when I plug a usb 3.0 dock with a hard drive in it sometimes it will mess up the samsung drive and make it completely unusable.. samsung has been great about shipping out a replacement usb drive and didn't give me any hassles whatsoever about it, it's been a while but I think they either paid to have the defective drive sent back to me or they just didn't ask for it at all. You would want your original invoice but in this day and age it's easy to have a digital copy of it to begin with.

This probably isn't the best backup option Stick Out Tongue but any files I change or new files go on here and are backed up (in theory) by the backup solution I'm getting for free as part of other software I've purchased anyways, when the usb drive gets full I transfer the files to the aforementioned hard drive in a dock that's normally not kept connected to the PC (first making sure I eject and take out the samsung drive).. the cheap $11 for 64 GB version might be helpful as far as plugging it into family member's PC's, begging and pleading with them to please back up any files they change onto the samsung too and hoping they actually listen Stick Out Tongue

The small size of the samsung drive works for stupid people like me Stick Out Tongue who leave it in their PC all of the time and may forget it's there then try to move the PC, potentially snapping the thumb drive and/or the sata slot it's in .. but yep they are small and easily lost !

Thanks for the link! Is this model better in terms of heat and reliability?
