Took a gamble last time this was posted to SD for same price, had fewer reviews then.
There's a recent amazon review (Nov 18, not mine) that is accurate.
The Sept 19 review (1 star) is wrong, this will easily support a lot of weight. But the adjustment felt a little stuck at first on mine, once it loosened up it had full range of tension.
This is mechanical spring (literature calls it gas spring), but I prefer mechanical for cheaper arms bc no risk of it leaking.
The plastic casing was a bit marred in places, looked to be factory tool clamping, but not noticeable from distance.
Joints are NOT plastic, they are metal but there are plastic sleeves (typical design).
Haven't tried USB ports.
I like it for the price.

Is there cable management built into the arm itself? Grommet mount can the USB cable be fed through the grommet? Non of the pictures show cables of course…
In the actual product description there is a image with a single yellow cable. Management doesn't look great but it has something.

Interesting that monitor doesnt need power. Looks like a side clamp setup- hopefully it has grommet pass through

Will your 40" be okay? Looking at the description: "This ErGear single monitor arm is designed to accommodate most 17″–34″ monitors up to 24 lbs with VESA mounting patterns 75x75 or 100x100mm. Please verify the size, weight, and VESA pattern of your monitor before purchase."
Well I set it up with the 40" MSI (https://slickdeals.net/f/17117332-40in-monoprice-crystalpro-monitor-uwqhd-ips-3440x1440-144hz-mprt-1ms-369-99-free-shipping?v=1&src=SiteSearch), the actual manual says 22lbs max; the MSI is reported as 22.7lbs and if I tighten the screw it holds the weight. The MSI mount is a bit recessed so I had to use the longer screws (1 was bent) with the spacers, and I think that is adding a bit extra moment on the outer hinge (which is plastic), I tightened as much as I can and it slightly holds, a slight bump will make it roll down.

I'm actually a fan of the USB hub. I plugged the other end into the monitor and a hub into this with my kb/mouse/etc. My only issue with the hub is it appears as a drive, kinda sketchy and I've got to look into how to hide or block it so it doesn't pop up in my explorer (windows) or desktop (mac)

Good deal! I got a different mount recently.

You like your 40" monitor? I was looking at this similar MSI 40" for my own setup: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BX2CLB9D

I put my review in the slickdeal topic (same monitor). I tend to notice the light gets dimmer off to the sides of where your head is. It is kinda distracting, tried a few contrast and brightess settings and couldn't get rid of it. For that reason alone I am on the fence of returning, gonna give it a few more days of testing. No other reviews mention it, I'm thinking it is the actual light going through the pixels and when you are far far back you don't notice it but that isn't realistic for a monitor; while curves monitors curve the pixles to you so you are roughly normal the the direction of the pixel and the backlight coming out of it. I read about oleds being blurry vs IPS, this is probably solved with a flat OLED.

Also since it is KVM, you can't wake up your computer with a kb/mouse movement, need to wake the computer up (haven't played with this much, might be me using the stand usb hub)

Also, the monitor has some memory when you connect to it it will mount a drive to install the MSI software. Hella annoying if you have a mac bc that software isn't compatible. Solution here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/q...igh-sierra

Dream monitor is this but no way I'm dropping $900 on a monitor :p https://slickdeals.net/f/17073097-38-lg-38wn95c-w-3840x1600-144hz-1ms-ips-freesync-ultrawide-curved-monitor-897-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch

I received and installed mine yesterday. Am very happy with it, I wish I got 2 with this deal. I'm using a 24" Samsung monitor and there's no way it weighs more than 8lbs; holds it up as advertised. The arm operation is smooth and I use the USB's for power only; once I read above that it identifies as a drive I said no thanks to that. It's plugged into a surge protector. This is probably standard for all monitor arms but if you need to adjust anything you need the allen wrenches, so I just taped them to the arm itself so that I don't have to go looking for them a year from now to readjust tension. I'd prefer a knob or even a flat or Philips screw if I could choose. When changing from portrait to landscape orientation, my OCD kicks in and I spend too much time fine tuning the angle to ensure it's level. I'm tempted to keep a bubble level handy and it'd be nice if the arm knew to click in at every 90 degree increment. Again, I'm guessing no monitor arm does any of that stuff but add it to the "would be nice" list of features. Thumbs up for this product but as a true slickdeals user, I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it. $20 was a great price
