Clarification on +100 trade-in values. No comparison made for all the phones offered for trade-in. It is based on Google Pixel 7 trade in value compared to regular week and today in both Best Buy and Google Store.

I suggest waiting post Christmas. The P8 is notoriously bad SOC and reviews are confirming aging tensor architecture. The modem issues still exist tbh. I would pick probably s23u this year over P8. The P8 magic of photography exists other than that I don't think it's worth the asking price. Almost all P8 photo magic is done over cloud. this comes from someone who is with Pixel since 2XL and who is in android land since 1.3/Gingerbread

I took mine out of the box to confirm it wasn't damaged and make sure it powered on. I sent that to Google and got the full trade in value credited.

If you ship in the box unopened, they could claim it arrived damaged or dead and you couldn't know or prove it worked when you shipped it.

I ended up trading in my well liked pixel 5 for a pixel 8. It was hard to pass up the $230 trade in plus the discounts. Originally I was going to wait until next year's phones before upgrading. Overall, after having it for 1.5 weeks, its a pretty good phone. I think I still prefer the smaller size and much lighter pixel 5 though, even if it was a little bit worse features and performance. Smart phone tech has mostly peaked in my mind, "upgrades" are mostly minor and incremental at this point.
