I'd say no. The XM6s should come out next summer so you may want to wait. I imagine there will be minor improvements all around for the XM6s plus an answer to Bose's surround sound that you can use with any app. There will likely be enough new changes to justify an upgrade from XM4 to XM6

Decisions decisions. Got the Bose qc ultras for the $10 more than these at Target. Not sure if I should return those and keep these. I have the qc 45s and love those. Anyone compare the xm5 vs the qc45 ultras?
Qc ultra headphone or earphone?

Wanted to order through amazon since they have a better and longer return policy but just ordered through target. At least the red card gave me 5% off

The link is taking me to Amazon "used acceptable" for $230. New is not an option. Maybe they sold out. The used XB910N is available used for $150, any thoughts? Noise canceling is my big want

For those who own the XM4 and XM5, is it worth upgrading? From what I've read the differences are minimal going up to the XM5. I love my XM4s. I use them a lot and wish the battery life was a little longer, but they are the best over the ear headphones I've owned.
Difference in terms of what? ANC? Size? Form factor? Tbh, the ANC on the XM4 is already pretty good. XM5 improves on it, but by a lot? No. The XM5 has the new form factor where you can't fold the cups in anymore for a more compact size when stored in a bag. Sound, subjective, the Sonys have always been thumpy and each iteration sounds similar.

Worth upgrading? Nah. Its too small a jump. Probably if you were XM2 to XM5. Even then, I feel like the change in the way the headphones are no longer foldable will turn some people off.

Bose Ultra has better ANC but the SONY mike is much better than the Bose in noisy surroundings. These are a steal at this price - bought mine refurb for a slightly higher price a while back and have no regrets yet.

Returned my Bose Q45 to Costco because of poor battery life and pretty slow recharging.

Sony got the best ANC (XM3 user here). Bose Q45 is not bad but average compared to Sony XM series for sure (used Q45 for 80 days at Costco with amazing return policy).

If battery life and ANC are not top priorities go with the Bose Q45 (not a bad headset at all). BTW I am a very heavy user of the headset 10-11 hours per day.
thanks for the details. Will try Sony.

Just got the XM5s from this deal. It's been like 5 years since I've bought wireless headphones and I admit I was kind of hoping these would close the sound gap with more accurate, punchy wired headphones like say, the Sennheiser HD25 (which is like half the price).

But it's not the case. They still have a somewhat boomy signature - that loose low frequency sound that I remember from the Beats series (except the Solo Pro which was a gem aside from its skull crushing ways), except not nearly as egregious. It feels like there's a separation between the lows and the rest of the frequencies the way you'd get with one of those big car sound systems.

Anyway after using it for a while I kind of... got used to it, and it's not bad at all. As much as I want my music to be punchy and deep, I'm not sure if I like this more, or the more subdued but somewhat more accurate Bose sound. As they say, very subjective.

Probably will keep due to the comfort, noise cancellation, and good mics for voice calls.

Sony already had 360RA before Bose spatial audio.

I picked up the Bose QuietComforts for $199 on BF directly from Bose, which results in a 2-year warranty unlike other retailers. Also, I scored 1,999 United skymiles for the purchase.

How do the XM5's compare to the QuietComforts? Is it worth an extra $50 and a lesser warranty (plus giving up those miles)? They are for a teenager who likes mostly rap and a little rock. He may use them for gaming, and will certainly use them for an occasional flight and long road trips.
