On the other hand... I have had zero issues with P7P for the past 8 months. Not sure why you had so much trouble setting up a finger print. It only took me a minute or two AND it works every single time. Battery life isn't as good as my work Samsung 22, but I end with about 40% on a heavy use day. I am sure the Moto is great, but I really enjoy the photos and smooth software experience (ie, no bloat wear.)

I experienced the opposite of this, maybe you received a dud. I've had the P7P since it came out, wife has P6P. They have both been amazing.

there are always ppl who have good experiences and ppl who have bad experiences with literally everything. check the samsung forums and you'll find ppl who are/have had bad experiences with samsung phones. big surprise ! literally happens with every product in every industry. ppl don't like WD ! but they love seagate ! ppl love WD but don't like seagate ! ppl hate intel ! but love AMD.. other hate AMD but love intel !.. i dunno man.. glad you're able to vent somewhere.. but while you're not alone.. you're also on one side of a coin where the otherside has had/having the complete diff experience. hope you feel better tho

Funny but don't think so. Greg Brown is CEO of "Motorola Solutions".

Motorola Inc jettisoned their cell phone business into "Motorola Mobility" in 2011. Google bought Motorola Mobility a year later for the patent portfolio and then sold the remain to Lenovo couple years later.

As a Pixel lover with Pixel 5a, 6a, 7, I am strongly recommending against the Pixel 7 pro (or any Pixels until fundamental issues are resolved).

This guy had a pretty terrible experience [youtube.com] with the Pixel 7 pro. My experience with the Pixel 7 was also pretty awful, starting with the lame finger print sensor that still works less than 50% to this day.

I thought maybe the optical fingerprint sensor was to blame. But when I switched to the amazing Moto ThinkPhone with an optical fingerprint sensor, it works 100% instantly, so something is seriously wrong with Pixel (including the hated time-out feature when setting up fingerprints - it took me 30 minutes to set up a single fingerprint, not an exaggeration - WTF Google?? - and yet it still works less than 50% of the time.)

My recommendation is to buy the Moto ThinkPhone all day over the Pixel. the difference is night and day. The ThinkPhone made me fall in love with Android again, whereas the Pixel 7 made me hate it.

The best decision I ever made was moving the SIM card out of my Pixel 7 to the ThinkPhone.

The ThinkPhone is still on sales for $360, and is the steal of the year. I'm buying several for the family, include kids who wanted to switch to it from their iPhones after playing with it.
It shows 400. How are you getting 360? Is there a Promo Code or so to drop it to 360?

Try a different browser, use inprivate or incognito mode to open the Moto link. It opens in $359.99 for me and I was able to buy another one an hour ago.

Or try coupon THINK150 as well.

The fingerprint sensor on my Samsung has been hot garbage. I gave up on it long ago after fiddling with it and spending way too much time troubleshooting. P7P finger print sensors are not an exclusive problem to Google.

same, got p7 with Walmart iPhone 11 trade in, disappointed this year about trade-ins so just deciding if its better to upgrade to p7 pro, unfortunately Bestbuy is offering 280$ towards p8 , for p7pro its only 200$, debating btw larger screen on p7 vs newer p8, this is my secondary phone and I dont use it daily
Got two p7s last year from the same walmart iPhone trade in deal and unfortunately it was a frustrating experience at times. Both pixel 7s had issues registering fingerprints and we tried pretty much every trick we could find on the Internet but nothing worked. On mine the main issue was ram management, it was pretty bad at times and made me miss the 2020 motor g power with 4 gigs of ram I "upgraded" from. Ram management, just ok battery life, weird little bugs every now and then, slow charging speed, and useless fingerprint scanner really soured my experience.

Then I went back to Motorola and got the Edge plus 2022 for $200 and felt like a huge upgrade compared to the pixel 7 even if the pictures were not quite there. I wished my p7 had worked as well as it did for a lot of people here but honestly I don't miss it.

PIN unlock is not secure (some iPhone users who didn't use FaceID or TouchID had their phones stolen and then their iOS accounts locked via PIN unlock) , but on Moto ThinkPhone with random PIN pad it might be more secure.

Face unlock is not secure, not compared to Apple FaceID which is far more secure.

Fingerprint unlock is the best option on the Pixel, if it worked properly.

I was heavily against the onscreen fingerprint sensor so I bought myself a Galaxy Fold 4 as it has a physical sensor on the power button. I helped my dad replace his old phone and he ended up with my cousin's Pixel 6 pro. he had a specific type of screen protector where it didn't hinder the finger print sensor. I had my dad register his finger and now the phone works with him barely touching the fingerprint area. It just unlocks with barely any percent of his finger on the screen. I miss the camera from the Pixel (I'm an Astrophotographer), but I'm probably sticking to my Samsung for a couple of years minimum.

As someone who has been a pixel fan and has been lurking in the Pixel sub in the past years. The first tensor chip with the 6 was a terrible experience for me, the quality control for the units were just poor (fingerprint/modem/heating), traded it for the P7P the first chance I got, the 7 series quality control was better, even though the fingerprint works, I still have some issues with modem/heating from time to time. My time with the P7P was manageable, I don't game and mostly in place with wifi access. Sadly I sold my P7P after the 8 series came out, I heard that the new android update fixes some of the heating issue in some units. So in all, the price seem okay if you want to try the Pixel, just remember to test the unit extensively to make sure you have the good unit.

Just bought the 128GB in October for 500, used from eBay. This looks like a pretty good deal for new

The mint deal with a year of service for $389 seems like the better way to go on this phone. Plus, some people are offering to buy the service for ~$50 on that thread, People seem to be getting them unlocked fine. The fingerprint scanner was bad at the beginning but I think with the updates, it works much better now. The camera takes awesome pics.

I'm not alone with the Pixel issues. Other family and friends also had similar issues with the Pixel, whereas they had no issues when they were using Samsung or iPhones. They all swore off Pixel because of the bugs. You're one of the few lucky ones, I suppose. The YouTube video from the tech reviewer is pretty good to see some of the fundamental issues.
The good: Camera.
The Bad: eSIM, if removed there is no way to get it back. Neither "Factory Reset" nor Flashing the Image will revive the eSIM.
The Ugly: the Google Support is nightmare. Even you if you get hold of an Engineer. They are typically some snubby kid from India who thinks you are dumb.
Overall I like older Pixels phone much better than the new ones with T processor.
Support sucks.

I had P6P for 1.5 years, P7P for about 5 months and using P8P for last 2+ months, there are few minor software bugs/issues but pixel is my daily driver for past 2+ years and everything worked/works fine including FP scanner (works 95 - 100% on any given day).

Your pixel may be a lemon and you should have replaced within the return period or exchanged under warranty.

Let me chime in along with others my experience. I purchased P7P with 512GB for $1400 last October with no trade. Two months in and it overheated just taking pictures and video for 10 mins; screen went black. Google replaced the screen. 3 months afterward, it overheated again after taking videos for 12 minutes; screen went black. This time I demanded and got a new replacement instead.
Half the time, the fingerprint would not work. Battery would last no more than 16-18 hours just checking emails, texts, and light internet browsing (no videos).
I do love the picture and video qualities; however, night shooting is quite difficult with blurring; many times. Would I get Pixel phone again if my phone were to get damaged or lost? No, not yet until they fix the overheating and short battery issue. I'm paying too much for something that other phones could do better (Samsung, iPhone, OnePlus).

You must have very special fingerprints...p7p uses stone age optical fingerprint sensor not modern ultrasonic one. Thats why so many ppl complaint about this...its accuracy is less than 70%

I had to send my P7P in 3 times for warranty work. They replaced the screen twice and the motherboard the third time. Needless to say I traded it in. I've had a pixel phone since the pixel 2 XL and love pure android. However I'm done with Pixels after problems with the newer ones.
