Whenever you get a person (chat, phone, in-person) involved, they most likely will require you to pay off a previous EIP before initiating a new EIP. They were probably taught this, and why would they help you exploit the system by maxing out EIPs. In this case, the paid off EIP's RDC moves to the account level, so you continue getting the credit monthly until the RDC runs out.
I always re-use the old sim and put new sim in drawer. If your old sim was from 10 years ago then its better use the new sim. you can log in acct to replace the sim card yourself.
edit: your old sim will stay active until you make the change to use new sim.

it's an ok phone considering it's free. It's moto they don't make great phones they make ok stuff and your getting it for nothing.
