$68 is the lowest I've ever seen in that covered 12" frying pan.

Good deal.

some reviews on youtube (link below) showed the hex stuff is really sticky and kinda not matching the ads. Besides, it's some kind of coating, which I decided to be done with and not use at home anymore. So we got the all clad stuff and so far so good. Just watch some youtube videos on how to use properly use an all clad - mostly preheat on medium/medium-low dry, put oil , then food.

The only reason these things are expensive is because of the lifetime warranty. You are better off buying a generic one for much cheaper

I bought one of these with high expectations.
Alas I was newish to cooking and didn't realize all the oils needed to cook with these.
Vegetable oils (and some aren't "vegetable" at all but seeds that need processing vs pressing) are being found related to a lot of ailments like macular degeneration.
I hate how heavy cast iron is but thats where I went

A lot of these go in and out of stock at home goods for far less. I've picked up two quart pans with the lid for $35, usually have a lot of Viking stuff too, at least it's mine I'm sure this varies by location

Demeyere Industry is clad like AC but with a significantly thicker aluminum core along with other advantages (no handle rivets, curved pouring edges on all pieces, more comfortable handles, Silvinox surface treatment for easier cleaning, etc). Will never be as cheap as AC on these clearance sites but price competitive at retail.

Carbon steel is somewhat lighter with most of the benefits of cast iron.

Guys, don't buy D5 or Copper Core, those are just marketing rip-offs they came out with when their patent expired. If you must buy AC then go with D3.

So is D5 actually worse than D3? I understand we really don't need 5 layers but if D5 doesn't cost any more than D3, do you still prefer D3?

The D5 is actually cheaper with this sale than the D3.

I'm looking under the D3 filter, but some items explicitly have D3 in the title/description and some don't. Is it still D3 or something else?? First time using this site.

For example (doesn't mention d3): https://homeandcooksales.com/inde...ity-2.html

for this price thinking of buying a second 12 inch. My ac is almost 30 years old. and still looks new. For non stick, when to a zwilling factory sale in pleasantville and got ballerina fry pans (made in Italy ) they were on sale for $5.00

They are both great quality pans and I own both D3 and D5. I've found the D5 take slightly longer to heat up due to the extra layers and but it holds that heat longer. If someone wants a pan to be more responsive to changing the heat from the burner I would go with D3. If you want a pan that will hold a steady heat for sauteing or searing at a certain temp I would go D5. I grabbed the 12 inch pan D5 pan at this price, cheapest I've ever seen it and will last the rest of my life.

That pan is D3. Says D3 in the photo and in the description it says Tri-Ply. If you're patient, this website has had that same pan for cheaper in the past.

I think this is a great price for All Clad but I'm holding out for these new Hexidecimal non-stick pots & pans from Gordon Ramsey. Anyone have experience between the two?
They're a scam. He's just doing it for the money. Culinary experts who aren't paid by or partnered with the company consistently report that it's not great.

The bottom line is that each little hex pocket has its own nonstick coating. This gives it far more possible points of failure. Once the coating starts to flake off in even one spot, it should no longer be used at all, because the coating is carcinogenic if you ingest it. Since people already don't take care of nonstick well, using metal utensils on it, overheating it, etc, the Hexclad pans are just a really expensive nonstick pan that is if anything even more likely to fail. Sure, they feel substantial and well built, but poor design choices completely undermines that.

Also: these pans are not really an alternative to Hexclad IMO. These are, for lack of a better word, "stick" pans, intentionally. The little browned bits that stick to the bottom can form the basis of a delicious pan sauce. For most dishes, they work really well. It's also very safe to scrub them aggressively with abrasives if you need to, and it's safe to use acidic ingredients (which can harm the seasoning in cast iron pans). I personally have one of these, and also keep around a couple cast iron and carbon steel pans, and also have one regular inexpensive 8" nonstick pan I use specifically for eggs.
