On a serious note. your phone is oart of your safety equipment. keep the battery available, so if you did it, it's not dead from using GPS on your phone.

Best pda I've ever used.
Long batter life. Stable. Fast. Tons of apps.

if you ride road you can plan a ride on software like ridewgps then have this thing give you turn by turn directions. game changer.
so many fitness and training options if you go down that rabbit hole.
you COULD theoretically do this with your phone but this makes it all super easy while not really distracting from your bike ride.
this is money well spent for any bikenerd!
I have turned to using the app RWGPS (Ride with GPS) or Komoot to handle my navigation with mounting my phone on the handlebars. The RWGPS app also can connect Heart rate and the Varia to give me most of the features I used with the Garmin 830.
I was originally going to give a Garmin 830 or 840 as a gift to my son, but instead I gave him a subsciption to RWGPS.
Are you training to increase your performance, with various ANT+ sensors data input?
You likely can benefit from this.
Are you taking a leisurely stroll through town for 30 minutes?
Your phone will be more than enough.
