This is not the model listed in the lawsuits. The ones listed in the lawsuits are various Extreme and Extreme Pro models as well as the Pro-G40 and Western Digital My Passport. I don't know if this model also suffers from the same issue(s) and I am trying to figure out when it was introduced. I've gone ahead and ordered one given the extended holiday return period. I'll leave it unopened until I decide to keep it or there's a deal on a Samsung T7.
Don't trust that. I was using this until two weeks back(use for year n half ). I copied 200gb size of photos and it died after copying. I would recommend to stay away from Sandisk ssd for a while.
AGA7dsame model?
Mine was 1TB Extreme Pro.
Glad I should have seen this video before.
Issue i had was not recognizing in any device (MAC/Windows) and started getting heat. Data recovery vendor mentioned due to heating it lost the connectivity inside. They have to remove the SSD and recover the data. I lost hope from WD for future purchases and not ready to take another data loss.
I get being burned by certain companies in the past, and hell, I've lost seagate/wd/lacie/maxtor/sandisk/etc etc drives myself.
But it seems like everyone is talking about different drives here.
Yeah, I get there is a good reason for SanDisk/WD to have some stink on them right now, but these aren't those drives from all accounts of people that have opened them up.... they aren't all that, and slower then a lot... but the conflation on this thread is ridiculous.
Man this is so tempting. I have a 1TB that's about 5 years old now (currently running as a swap file drive for photoshop), and two 2 TB drives bought in the past year. All have performed flawlessly despite rough handling (to the point of having to buy new cables for each). If I could justify it, I'd buy another at this price, no hesitation.
Got mine today and checked the serial number on the Sandisk website and it said that mine didn't need any firmware updates. I'm using mine to backup what's already on my desktop so if it dies, it's not a huge problem for me.

Was at my local Costco today and saw they had the T7 Touch for $99.99 (same deal as online). Also saw that the last day for the promotion was 12/15 so I grabbed one. Thinking it over the hardware encryption and fingerprint sensor of the Samsung are pluses for me so I'm probably going to keep it and return the Sandisk. Actually on second thought I may just keep the Sandisk and use it as a backup for the files on the T7.

I've watched enough videos and read enough articles about Sandisk's mismanagement and deception regarding some of their faulty ssds that I've sworn OFF Sandisk for 3 years until they get their act together. Thankful for the online community and YouTubers who caught Sandisk's shenanigans!
Is this the one that lost the data of many customers when it malfunctioned and then got them sued? Or was that another drive?
Right, these are not the ones that are failing , those people who posted above just don't know how to read. The ones that are Failing are the extreme/pro versions.
I'm for one, too. Thanks! My livelihood doesn't hinge on this ssd. Also, sandisk is a huge company with countless products, engineers, factories and nothing suggests to me it's some core feature that all of their lines are affected. Their name is taking a hit, and thus the sale.

I am using it to store local files. Which are sync to a NAS that also syncs to the cloud.
Currently using a 1TB WD passport spinning disk.

But for a beginner, I would recommend reading about NextCloud, to keep files/folders in Sync between *devices*.
Synching to the cloud it's easy and straight forward. From your NAS (running Nextcloud) ----> Cloud
